LOUIE POV
So...
Here I was following a girl. Who is on a mission of vengeance, and apparently a black belt in Karate.
In the dark.
Nothing wrong about this AT ALL!
But this is where I was. All for the sake of the woman I love.
Athena...
I've never seen her in her assassination mode, and I can only imagine what she was being forced to do.
My left eye twitches as images of her killing Mrs. Beakly, Uncle Scrooge, my brothers, Uncle Donald, Mom...
All dead -.
I shake myself and tried to stay focused.
No.
I can't be thinking like that!
I need to find Athena, and bring her home.
No matter the cost.
Emma was humming a soft softly to herself as we stopped at a two story looking house. The song had an odd and eerie tune to it but I couldn't pay to much attention because I was too busy staring at the house in front of me as Emma lifted a garden gnome and brought out a key.
The house was two story's high with bars -. Yes. BARS. For windows. Much like you'd see in a prison and as Emma walked up the stone steps towards the back door and jammed the key into the keyhole I found my self feeling almost - almost sorry for Matt and Zerha.
Why would their parents have bars for windows?
As Emma pushed open the door slowly it creaked open and she suddenly yelp and pulled back almost bumping into me when something shot out from behind the door.
It looked like -.
"It's just a bat -. Emma!" I shouted at her as she started desperately clinging to my sweeter hoodie for dear life. I tried to shift my body as the creature of the night started flapping around us wildly, screeching, and clawing at us.
I craned my neck and grabbed for the nearest thing I could -.
A large enough tree branch.
It was as thick as a baseball bat so I used it like such and...
WHACK!
I hit the animal with so much force that it screeched in pain and flopped to the ground.
Emma stopped trying to dig herself into my sweater and look behind her at the now dead animal. I could see her face turn a deep shade of red, probably embarrassed by the fact that I witnessed her being frightened of tiny little bat.
The only reason I was able to tell that the creature had been a bat was from the many pictures that Webby had shown my brothers and I while out adventuring with Uncle Scrooge.
It kind of made me remember how much Webby wanted to met a vampire... Or better yet... A were-duck. Maybe I should put the dead creature in a sack or something and bring it to her, as a joke. It could lighten the mood whenever I catch up with them after I find Athena.
"Stupid -. Nasty. Creature." I hear Emma muttered.
She quickly moved away from me and drew out her knife from her boot. I froze for a second, thinking it was for me, but, she quickly made for the bat instead. I watched horrified as she started to stab the poor creature over and over again.
Okay...
I get beating the bat was one thing, but stabbing it over twenty times?
That was a bit much.
I closed my eyes, took a big shaky breath, and opened them before I reached out and grabbed the arm.
Emma's head snapped up and she looked over at me. Her eyes were clouded with hate and malice.
"Lay off -. Alright?" She barked, jerking her hand away. "Just be lucky this wasn't you." She snarled but she stopped stabbing the bat and looked down at it in disgust. She kicked it making the dead corpse flop on its other side.
I slowly backed away from the strange girl in front of me.
Maybe I should re-think this whole deal thing with her...
She straightened back up, wiped the dead animal blood off her knife with her orange wool sweater she was wearing, then gripped the handle to her knife tightly as she faced the now opened door to what was once Matt and Zerha's childhood home.
"Look. If we're gonna do this. We need to get a few things straight." She turned to look at me and I almost could feel the anger radiating from her. "One -." She began, lifting a finger, "Never mention that to anyone else we come across. Got it?" She snapped. I nodded. "Two -. No asking about my past, and three -. If things go south -. Run." She told me.
I stare at her but nod again.
Rather the last command was for my safety or hers. I wasn't one to argue when it came to running for our lives.
Or rather...
Mine.
But once we find Athena I was done with running.
I wasn't going to run once we come face to face again. No matter what she has become. I was going to stand my ground, and find away to bring the love of my life back to me.
Emma snorted in approval, making me snap out of my thoughts about Athena, and turned back around to face the opened door and slowly began to step inside.
I slowly began to follow her.
Wondering to myself what kind of house of horrors we were walking ourselves into.
