Doc and I had screwed up big this time.

Words beyond repair.

For context, Doc had finally arrived back from the future, in his time-traveling train once more. I had expected Doc's return to be casual and loving, being that he said he would visit me in a couple months to check by, but Doc returned with a sense of urgency in his eyes like no other.

Me and Jennifer were riding my truck near the train tracks, as we were bored. We just decided to casually stroll among the area and chilled out to have a good time, but a sinking feeling sank into my stomach as I heard a weird warning for an incoming train, despite there being no train.

Me and Jennifer had looked over to the train track, but no one is in sight. Talk about deja vu. Was Doc's train coming again?

Me and Jennifer took no chances as we slowly backed away to anticipate the return of the time train. And sure enough, it did return! A train suddenly whooshed in front of our eyes, and quite obviously Doc had to be inside, being that no one else would be in quite a machine.

Me and Jen exchanged glances, just like we did when Doc had returned from 2015. Hesitantly, we went up to the train, and the door opened to reveal a wild eyed looking Doc.

"Doc?" I called out his name. I was not expecting him to return at this time, nor did I expect him to reappear in broad daylight.

Doc looked over to me, surprised that me and Jen are standing here. "Marty!" He exclaimed, while he ran over to me and sighed a breath of relief. "Thank god I found you— I need your help!"

Doc doesn't even give me a proper introduction this time. "Doc?" I asked, confused as I tried to understand what was happening. Jennifer squeezed my arm, anticipating whatever Doc had to say. "What's going on?" We both had bad feelings about whatever Doc was going to say, knowing it had to involve time travel somehow. Oh jeez, what now?

"Marty!" He cried again, and Jennifer and I walked up to him. But he quickly backed away, motioning for us to stay back despite the fact that he was always friendly. The hell? "The future— is messed up Marty!"

Oh god. Here we go again.

"What's it now, Doc?" I frantically asked, as Doc searched through his pocket and found some kind of... surgical mask and hand sanitizer. "What's wrong with the future?"

Doc gave me a worried expression as he repeated some familiar sounding phrase. "It's our world, Marty!" He said. The world? "Something's gotta be done about COVID-19!"

What the hell is a COVID-19? I I wondered to myself, as I approached the Doc again. But Doc ran back, placed on a mask and scrubbed himself up with hand sanitizer.

"You'll find out," he briefly responded, as he handed us a mask and also... some toilet paper. Weird. "Here. This is extremely valuable toilet paper, so please handle it with caution. And put on the masks."

"Jesus, Doc!—" I yelled, trying to comprehend what happened, but he hushed me.

"Global pandemic! Quick, we have no time to spare. Let's social distance into the train and I'll explain." He responded as we placed our masks on. Social distance? Masks? Global pandemic? Jeez, how screwed up is the future?

I didn't like where this was going, but Jennifer and I had no choice. We carefully walked our way into the train, exchanging glances. I was about to drag poor Jennifer into this again. The Doc sat down at his seat and typed the date, 'March 13th, 2020' into his keyboard. Whoa. What happened then? Heavy. And far into the future.

I glanced up and down as Doc soberly raised our train into the air. "Hey Doc," I said. "Why the long face?"

Doc turned to look at me with his mask on. His expression was hard to tell, as it was covered by the mask. "Long face?" He asked, soaring us up and away into the sky. "In 2020, we all have long faces."

And there you guys have it! Credits to our obvious current situation; I really wanted to involve the story of Marty and Doc traveling to the future to fix 2020. This is only the first part- should I make another part? How do you wanna see it end?

Great Scott!
