Chapter Ten || The Disappearance

marvin berry and his self proclaimed group, named 'the starlighters' had just gotten into their car and slid the keys into the ignition, making the tiny engine roar to life. it was a hot day in hill valley, and a long one too. all were tired from their previous concert at the hill valley high school, and were sore as well; but yet, they started talking about the most random and absurd things anyway.

"i swear, the kid did just vanish! his friends even said so." steve, the bass player of the band had said, speaking the truth. or at least it was the truth, according to the two high school sweethearts lorraine and george, who had noted about this odd kid. 'marty calvin klein,' according to them and the crazed scientist, doctor emmett brown, had performed at the hill valley high school the night of the dance, and left randomly, without saying why or even returning. according to doctor brown, he was just 'on vacation' but steve, being suspicious as he was, didn't trust the madman scientist entirely. it had just seemed odd that he'd be there for a week, and then just disappear into thin air afterwards.

"they did not say he vanished, steve. he likely just left early, that's all." one of the band members, jeremiah had reassured him. but steve still wasn't fully convinced.
"but why haven't we seen him since?" steve responded. "because he vanished into thin air!" he exclaimed, answering his own question. "or possibly a ghost!" he added, growing more and more excited at the prospect.
at this, marvin had sighed. "cmon man, a ghost?" he asked, exasperated. "then how could he play the guitar?"

"maybe he was a demon," john, the piano player chimed in. "i don't think that kid could of played as badly as he did as a demon could."

the rest of the group chuckled at this, understanding the joke. marty, indeed, truly did play terrible.
john sighed after a minute. "no, but seriously, i want answers. how far is emmett browns house from here? i want some answers." he asked, his fingers rapidly taping against his seat.

"it should be only a couple minutes away.' the lead driver, reginald responded. "and please stop tapping on my seat.'
john stopped tapping, but the excitement didn't buzz off. they were still too excited with the prospect that they could find out what had happened to this marty klein kid. maybe, just maybe, they could finally get some answers about this mysterious boy.
everyone grew more and more antsy every little bit they got to the alleged house of marty's uncle. every bit more traveled meant a little more of their mystery solved. "so, anyone got any more theories?" reginald asked as they traveled further down the road, as he added a chuckle. "one that actually makes sense."

at this moment, john decided to pipe up. "i have one," he exclaimed, and all eyes turned to him.

reginald rolled his eyes in response. "okay, but please make this actually make sense, man." he said, shaking his head. "we do not need another conspiracy theory."

marvin piped up. "hey, i thought my theory was perfectly logical!" he exclaimed. "it made sense.."
everyone shook their head in response, too tired to battle with his absurd theory. they then turnt their focus back to john, who believed he had the perfect theory.

it wasn't like he thought he know what it was. in his head, with all the evidence and facts, he already knew who he was. and it might of been a crazy theory, but it was one that really made sense. if they'd listen.

gracefully, johns fingers skid across the keyboard expertly, as he was playing a little melody. next to him, was marty klein, and although john didn't know him, marty did seem to know how to play the guitar well. marvin had thought so too, as he began singing the first notes to 'earth angel' which matched the chords well. everything had gone well until john noticed the boy staring intently at a photograph through the stings of the guitar. he also seemed to look up at a certain couple often, too. but john couldn't figure out, so he turned his attention back to the piano.
