PROLOGUE: In an alternative 1985, Marty is faced with an angry, gun-holding Biff— but just before Biff can do anything, Doc saves the day. But how did Doc know to come at this time?

It had been considerably long that Doc was waiting for Marty to return. Marty had promised the Doc that he would find out the answers of how this alternate Biff became corrupt and gained access to the Sport's Almanac, and right now he was likely up asking Biff.

Doc had to admit, he was slightly scared. For Marty, at least. He reminded himself to focus on his present tasks at hand, but the thought of a powerful Biff and teenager Marty facing one another was a thought that sent shivers down his spine. Relax, he told himself. Give it some time. Doc tried to remain calm— after all, he was a scientist, and he must always be scientific— and gave a good while before waiting to check up on Marty and make sure that boy wasn't into any trouble. Especially with a guy like Biff Tannen.

But enough time had passed, and Doc grew more and more restless. "Damn!" He muttered to himself. "Where is that boy?" He had a sinking feeling in his gut, the kind you would get when you anticipate something bad.

And as soon as that, he decided he couldn't wait any longer. They were on a short timeframe, and he wanted to rest his fears by insuring that Marty was okay and Biff wasn't causing trouble. He then grabbed his DeLorean and carefully drove through the new Hill Valley ghetto in attempt to search for his friend.

But neither Marty or his home could be seen in sight. Instead, laid a mega mansion/hotel/casino in the middle of the Hill Valley Town Square, instead of the typical clock tower. Hmm. That's peculiar.

Careful to not let the car be seen by any bandits, the Doc cautiously hid the DeLorean behind an empty alleyway. Hopefully it would remain undisputed for now.

Doc then got out of the car, making sure to watch his surroundings. There were many thugs, criminals, and all around violent activity happening. This was a dangerous place, and only further proved that this Hill Valley was a disastrous, alternative nightmare.

With that, Doc walked up to the entrance of this mysterious place. As he observed his surroundings some more, it was proving his theory that Biff really was a powerful guy in this timeline. Somehow, something they had done in the past set off a chain reaction of events that turned Hill Valley into Hell Valley instead. And Doc and Marty were going to find out what.

A small intercom appeared into the Doc's vision. Doc went up to it, clicking 'on' and making sure no one else was around to hear him. "Hello?" Doctor Brown asked into the intercom, and a harsh voice rudely greeted him back.

"What do you want?"

"Uhm..." the Doc tried to think of how he should word his sentence. "Is Marty McFly or Biff Tannen available nearby?"

"Why?" The voice shot back, even harsher this time.

"We have business."

That seemed to do it. A sliding noise made its way through the intercom, and the door opened to reveal a big, buff man. "Move, people," he boomed as he turned to face the Doc. "Are you him?"

"Yes, sir."

"We've been expecting you."

Expecting him? That was a new one to the Doc. What could they possibly want? Was Marty still okay?

He didn't know, but he was about to find out.

"Follow me," the man instructed, and Doc obeyed. They made their way through the casino, and walked up the long plight of stairs. What could possibly be up there? Doc was growing more and more hesitant on his decisions. Going into this whole thing with no DeLorean felt pretty dangerous, but it was a risk he was willing to take for his time-traveling friend.
