"Is this a holdup?""No, it's a science experiment!"
These were the last words, and well really, time, Marty-- Clint Eastwood had seen anybody before he collapsed into that train and suffered his terrible fate. At least, Clint was rumored up to be killed by the train, according to Blacksmith Doc Brown.
The young, mysterious man seemed to be so strangely quirky to everyone he met. His odd mannerisms, from his peculiar verbal slangs, to his out-of-date clothing seemed to give the illusion of an odd, strange guy who just randomly showed up in Hill Valley via 1885 one day and knock out the city's biggest crook. And just like that, he then disappeared off of the face of the Earth.
The train from the 'alleged science experiment', of course, fell into the ravine as Marty was transported back to the future. Obviously however, Doc couldn't go around telling people what had just happened-- that his friend had jumped into the future-- so when Doc came back to the city, he and Clara were greeted with the faces of confused strangers, wondering about where this Clint Eastwood had gone.
Doc greeted them back with a solemn look on his face in order to sell his story, though he truly was sad in a little bit of himself deep down. He knew it was be extremely difficult, almost impossible, that he could build another time machine within this decade, being that he didn't have the necessary counterparts in this timeframe. His friend could always go back and pick him up, but who knew when that'd happen?--It was at that point that people began to gather around Doc and press him for questions and answers about Eastwood's whereabouts.
"I'm sorry, my friends," Doc had told them all. "The experiment never worked."
He received a multitude of facial expressions within the crowd- sad, disappointed, upset. "It's a real shame," Seamus muttered to his wife, Maggie McFly. "Good kid." He patted William's back, rubbing it up and down as the baby gave soft whimpers.
"Aye," Maggie agreed, nodding her head solemnly. Although Eastwood felt like such a stranger in their residence, she couldn't help but feel bad, both for Clint and Seamus-- Although Clint felt like a stranger to her in the McFly home, she knew that there was some kind of special bond between her husband and the teenager.
A voice came from behind them, trying to reach the blacksmith up front. "So, we'll never see him again?" They asked. "In the future?"
A sad sense of irony and sarcasm seemed to emerge in the blacksmith's eyes. "The future," He muttered. "I guarantee it," He added, under his breath. But it was clear he didn't want to say anything further, so he left the town stranded with Clara in his arms.
As for Marty, well, he was incredibly sad. He had returned to the future, thank God, but the DeLorean had been teared to pieces moments upon his arrival back. He knew he'd had no chance of seeing his friend ever again, at least, not until the Doc showed up again.
In the meantime, the small little town in 1885 had decided to name the ravine off of Marty, naming it Eastwood Ravine. They felt that it was only fitting, considering how quickly the boy showed up as he left, yet managing to send the town's biggest bully to jail in the same timeframe. Rumors always flew around as the town wondered the mysteries of the boy that afternoon, being that they never saw him again, but they knew he would remain essential in the history of Hill Valley forever.
