It was just another normal day, in the eyes of Hill Valley. People were hanging out in the town square, going to school, shopping, and eating, among other things.

But of course, Doc and Marty had other plans.

It must've been sometime shortly after they met, that the two began coming close. Sure, they weren't best friends— after all, the local crackhead and the teenager with a skateboard were an unlikely pair— but the both of them had grown to be quite fond of each other. It was at this point that the Doc had began calling over Marty to assist in his plans (assuredly, Doc had attempted to keep him safe for the majority of time). And this time was of course, one of those experiment days.

On this peculiar day of 1982, Doc was working on another one of his inventions— the radio controller to a car. He needed Marty's assistance, so he called the boy over after dinner to help him out.

"Marty, you're here!" He cried, to the young and excited 13 year old. He couldn't wait to see what Dr. Brown had next up his sleeve. "Listen, I need your help. You see..." Doc began to go into great explanation of the logistics of the car, but of course Marty only partially understood him. Nonetheless, Marty was fascinated and wanted to help out in every way he could.

"Alright, Doc, so what I gotta do?" He asked, loudly chewing on his gum. The Doc gave a slight chuckle at his antics and handed him a notepad.

"Just take notes for me." He instructed. "If I say something interesting or when something occurs, please write it down."

"Alright."

With that, it was time to experiment and cook up the lab.

Doc Brown had been working on this prior, so the set up of his car was already pre-positioned. All he needed to do was adjust a few wires, and... boom! There he had it— the car was now working and ready to go.

"Alright, kid, you ready?" Doc asked the teenage boy asides him. Marty excitedly jumped up and down, pen and notebook in hand, and ready to go. They were ready for whatever the future had to bring.

They made particularly sure to distance themselves back away from the car in the case of an emergency. But no time for mistakes now— Doc and Marty were ready to go.

Marty took a big breath, anticipating the future of the experiment. Meanwhile, Doc flipped a switch, and the car actually started to move! Wait- that meant Doc's invention truly worked! It was a major breakthrough!

"Whoop!" Doc cheered as he controlled the car. Marty excitedly jumped up and down as he took notes. "It works!" He got a smug expression of 'I told you so' on his face, smiling that an invention of his was successful. The possibilities were endless! Raging hope and confidence boosted through his soul, as he realized that his hard work paid off. His young law-clerk secret scientist self would be so proud of him right now. Especially considering that this was an amazing, incredible, and original invention, he was beyond impressed with himself...

Doc smiled as he turned to the young boy, who kept looking up to stare at the car in fascination, before turning down to jolt down notes again. It reminded him of their past selves— Young, innocent Doc in 1955 upon his arrival of the time machine, and the nownewfound joy that Marty had just experienced. They both were so happy in the sense of discovering something new and possible to achieve.

"You know, Marty," he said, through his smile. "If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything."
