Emmett Brown sighed as he made his way out of the courthouse. Everything had just been extra bad that day; first, his father had continuously made him do pointless tasks as a punishment for showing up to work a couple minutes late, then one of his experiments had blown up on him, and finally he was being tormented by his all time bully (again). This day couldn't of gotten any worse.
But it did. Emmett was so absorbed in his thoughts that he didn't notice the rock that precariously awaited on the sidewalk ahead. Briefly, he walked out onto the freshly cut courtyard and soon onto the sidewalk, where the rock silently waited.
It was too late to stop when poor Emmett noticed the rock until he tripped over it, spreading his documents flying everywhere. Slowly, he picked himself up from the floor and groaned as he dusted himself off and gathered his papers back together. Once he had gotten them all back, he headed back to his lab where he doused himself in his scientific work. Apparently this day could get worse.
But before he could head back, he felt a light tap on his right shoulder. As Emmett turned around, he could of sworn he had heard the boy behind him ask "Doc?" as if he was asking his name. But that didn't make sense; his name wasn't 'Doc', and besides, he wasn't even a doctor. "Excuse me?" The stranger asked as Emmett faced him. "I think you dropped this on your way out."
Emmett raised his eyebrow as he stared at the mysterious boy for a minute, trying to see if he was genuine. But Emmett could find no trait of deceit in his eyes; only pureness and some sort of recognition. Slowly, he accepted his document back, still staring at the man. He had to refrain himself from asking the boy if he knew him from anywhere, but decided against it anyway.
Emmett nodded his head to refocus himself. "Thank you," he began, blinking. "Mister..?"
"Corleone," the boy replied simply. "Michael... Corleone." And with that he left, leaving a dumbfounded Emmett standing there.
A minute later Emmett left too, being more cautious of his surroundings now. Afterwards, he had finally arrived back to his small lab, where he became immersed with other things.
After another hour of exhausting science he decided to grab a small snack and head back to his room for the night. Emmett had almost forgotten about the incident earlier but decided the stranger was just simply being generous, and would leave simply it as that.--
The next day was another simple repeat of the previous day. He would get up, pretend to work on his law books and schoolwork (while he really worked on scientific equations), go to school (or the courthouse, depending on the day), go home, do schoolwork and maybe more science, take a walk around the park and maybe get a dinner and then head back to his house. Today had been nothing out of the ordinary, or at least it was how he had intended it to be. But perhaps destiny hadn't wanted it to be that way.
It should of been another day but it wasn't. It was a Saturday today, which meant Emmett had to go to the courthouse as usual. His day had been pretty normal far, until he had left the courthouse and headed out into the courtyard, which was surprisingly empty and quiet for a Saturday. But that wasn't what had bothered him; off in the nearby distance he could of sworn he had heard a boy, maybe his age, crying softly in the distance. Emmett's head perked up as he looked around for the source of the noise. Upon further inspection, he saw the boy stumble into the courtyard, his chocolate brown hair covering his eyes with his hands covered in some blood and dirt. Emmett almost let out a yell at the sight as he cautiously tip toed up to the boy. In a sense, he looked familiar, until he realized it was the kind stranger who had picked up one of his documents up yesterday. Emmett gulped as he wrestled in his head whether to approach him or not. He certainly wasn't good with people, mostly because he never interacted with them, but it seemed as if the boy really needed help. After a minute of quick thinking, Emmett decided to approach him, but carefully. "Uhm, sir, are you alright?" Emmett asked frantically once he was close enough for the boy to hear. But it didn't seem like he was alright at all. It seemed as if Michael didn't hear him at all.
Emmett bit his lip, hesitating before deciding to tap his shoulder. "Mister Corleone?" He asked softly but slowly. In response his head slowly lifted, sobs racking his body. "Emmett," Michael croaked through his sobs. The way he said his name was clear and through, as if he'd known Emmett for years. But that didn't make much sense; after all, they had met briefly yesterday and Emmett didn't even give his name so he had no idea how Michael knew it. He couldn't really think about it now, though. At the moment, he had to concentrate on getting his friend somewhere. "Here," Emmett said softly, lifting him up gently. If he was being honest, he would of said he was a nervous wreck. He had no idea on how to tend to people, especially in a situation like this. But Michael slowly accepted his embrace, falling into his arms softly. Without saying much, Emmett led Marty back to his lab, which thankfully wasn't far from where they were. Around five minutes later, they arrived at Emmett's house, where then he slowly led Michael up to his room to rest. "Uhm, just wait here, okay?" Emmett asked, a bit nervously. "I'll get something for you to eat." He wasn't really sure what to do in a situation like this, but he figured the unrest boy at least needed to eat.
Marty only nodded silently in response, still shook up. Emmett sighed as he headed down to his kitchen, searching for something that he'd maybe enjoy. As he searched around more and more, though, he grew more frantic. He had no idea what Michael would even want to eat.
Desperately, Emmett searched around for something he could eat. After a minute of searching, he finally decided to settle with just plain chicken noodle soup. Quickly, he heated it up with one of his inventions he had been working on and headed up back to his room. As he walked back up, it occurred to him that it might of been odd to bring him into his house, considering that Emmett only met him yesterday. But then again, he seemed like a trustworthy and kind enough fellow, and it seemed as if he really needed some comforting. So, without further thought he walked back up, soup in his hands.
