Chapter 12

(Jessica's P.O.V)
When I was in the car with Cal we just sat there in awkward silence until we got to his."Hey look I'm sorry about tonight I know it was supposed to be a good night but I just needed to tell you all that"he said as we walked to the front door and he pulled out his key."No it's fine I was happy you told me that because other wise I wouldn't have done anything and I would've lost you"I said looking anywhere but at him.We walked in three the front door and I was shocked.Everything was out of place with only certain picture frames broken.
Those only ones where of Calum's parents wedding and I just stood there covering my mouth at what I saw cause I had known Cals parents forever they where like second parents to me.Cal noticed me just standing there looking at all the damage and pulled me away from it all and up the stairs.
But at that point I had already been so shocked about those pictures that I could barely breath."Hey it's okay"Calum said quietly as he pulled me in for a hug."No it's not okay!"I said jumping up before he could wrap his arms around me."Nothing's okay anymore,"I said tears streaming down my face,"Nothing's the same anymore your parents are fighting my friends are getting spiked,I'm losing you and it's all my fault"I said turning and running to the bathroom and locking the door."Jess it's not your fault none of this is your fault please open the door"He said gently tapping the door.
But I didn't reply I just started shrinking down till my back was again isn't the bottom of the door and my tears where just going full force now."Jess please talk to me,"he said,"Please I want to help you"he said knocking again."NO there's nothing you can do to help this is my battle and it's with my self,I'm the only one that can fight this"I said throwing my heels away from me."Jess please trust me"he said trying to open the door."No I can't trust anyone before I can trust myself"I said starting to feel light headed.He just tried at the door again and then I could feel his back pressing against the door as he was doing what I was doing.
Soon enough I could tell he had fallen asleep against the door luckily they're was another door out that he had forgotten about so I went out that way and changed into my clothes I keep at his and put my dress on his bed and noticed something about his room that wasn't there before.He kept a picture of me and him from first grade next to his bed and I picked it up and just kinda held it in my hands running my fingers over it with memories of us running through my head.
Then just as I put it down Calum was standing in the door way."I-I was just..um..."I said trying to put the picture frame back down."Jessica H Smith I don't care what you where doing all I know is that I'm happy you are okay now"he said running over to me and hugging me but of course we fell over onto his bed and he was just squeezing the life out of me.Then we sat back up and he just sat there while I picked up my dress and moved it away from the bed."Cal can you answer my question finally that I asked you what seems like forever ago?"I asked putting down my dress and walking back over to him."What was it"he said looking nervous.
"Why did you stick around with me all these years when you could've taken the chance to be popular but instead you chose to hangout with the nerdy girl?"I asked taking out my contacts and putting on my glasses which make me look like me,Jessica the nerd the one with good grades."Because I-i wanted to be near you..."he said his voice trailing off.But while he was doing that I was also taking off my making and putting my hair up in a messy bun.I looked at myself in the mirror.I hadn't realized it had been awhile sense I had fully looked at myself without makeup.I just turned around and looked at Calum.After awhile I walked down stairs and started getting comfy on the couch.
"Hey why you sleeping on the couch tonight you haven't done that sense 7th grade?"he said laughing at me while walking down the stairs."I don't know just felt like sleeping down here tonight"I said yawning."Well sense the living room gets really cold at night I'll bring you some extra blankets"he said jogging back up the stairs then after like 3 min he came back down the stairs with like 5 blankets."This should be enough" he said draping the blankets over the couch."Night Cally"I yelled to him."Really?"He said I could tell he was doing the annoyed face."Really"I replied."Okay Night Jessie"He yelled from upstairs.Then with that I was off to bed.But I woke up to the weirdest sound and I just listened but didn't go to it cause I didn't want to scare whatever it was. I was shocked when I figured out who it was.
