CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Edited

I feel something wet on my lips. What is that? I open my eyes only to see Donald very close to me. I roll my eyes at his playful face. I can't believe he looks that happy after what happened yesterday. I admit I am so stupid.

"Who kisses a sleeping girl?" I ask, pushing him off me so I can sit up.

"Me." He rolls his eyes dramatically with a smile. I can't help but stare at him. He looks so hot this morning. Don't get me wrong, he's always hot but he looks way better this morning. Wait... He looks...

"With that look on your face, I guess you've realized how late you are." He smirks. I knew it.

"How could you not wake me up?!" I yell at him as I rush to the bathroom.

"Nothing seems to wake you up. Except for my kiss," he says. I am sure there is a smirk on his face right now. I have my bath.

I decide to prepare myself for the cold. Don tells me about how cold it can be. I wear tight jeans and a baggy, knitted sweater. I put on my white knee-length boots. I pack my hair into a ponytail.

"Don!" I shout. He comes inside the room with a frown, causing me to laugh.

"Sorry," I said, covering my mouth with my hands to stop me from laughing too loud.

"Are you ready?" he asks, and I nod.

"How do I look?" I ask.

"Beautiful, as always." He smiles before pulling me into a kiss.

"Oh Nala, I lied." I raise my brows in confusion.

"We don't have a flight to catch." He smirksbefore leaving the room.

Argh. If I get my hands on him!

We both know what you will do to him, Penny says, chuckling mischievously.

"Shut up, Penny" I reply loudly.

"Where is my box?" I ask with a frown as I walk downstairs to meet a smirking Don.

"It's in the jet already." I frown before sitting down to eat breakfast.

"Don't tell me you are still mad," he says, laughing, causing my frown to go deeper. I don't answer him, and he doesn't say anything after that either.

"We are not leaving until you say something to me," he says, wrapping his arms around my waist, stopping me from moving.

"You're an asshole," I said, making him frown.

He carries me over his shoulders.

"Let me down!" I shout, but he ignores me. He drops me on my seat and straps me in with my belts before sitting and going through the same procedure.

"Now that we are on our way, can you talk to me?" he says. I scoff and face the other side.

"I'm sorry," he says. I am already tired of pretending like I am annoyed with him. I smile before facing him.

"Fine," I say, making him smile.

"You want to tell me something," he points out. My hand is on my chin as I try to remember and I do.

"Yeah, yeah. I want to tell you about school," I say. He looks worried for a minute before smiling.

"Nala, if you want to continue college, I won't mind. I don't even care about how far it is. Just do something you'll be happy with," he says. I smile knowing how much of a lie everything he just said is. We've been together for close to a year and he hasn't even marked me; now, he is telling me he will be fine if I leave. I laugh, leaving Donald with a confused expression.

"What's so funny?" he asks with a frown plastered on his face.

"Nothing. I'm just wondering how much of a lie what you just said is," I say in between my laughter.

"I'm serious, Nala. I'm fine with anything you want," he says with seriousness written all over his face.

"Well... I have decided to skip college," I state.

"What? Why? You don't have to, you really want to go."

"Don, you waited a long time to find me and we've been together for close to a year without marking me; I think that's enough sacrifice from you," I tell him exactly why I decided to skip college. Don has really been patient with me.

"I don't want you making this decision because you think I've waited long enough. I don't mind walking at your pace," he explains, holding my hands and making me smile.

"I've thought about this well, Don. I really want to do this," I said, and he nods.

"OK, Nala." He smiles before pulling me in for a kiss.

Don's POV

My father requests my presence as soon as Nala and I get home. He doesn't even give me the chance to settle down. I feel so happy. Nala decided to skip college. I really don't know how well I would have handled her being away in college with guys around her. All I know is that I would have worked it out some way. I just really want her to walk at her own pace. No rush.

"Yes, Father?"  I say as soon as I enter his office. He doesn't look up and I am not bothered.

"I have things to do," I say after waiting for about five minutes and he doesn't say anything. He looks up immediately.

"I won't have you talk to me that way!" he shouts angrily.

"I'm sorry," I mumble.

"Better. I call you here to tell you about the throne. You have to take over the throne soon and you need a queen" he says, frowning.

"I told you, Father. I have a mate," I say, annoyed that he still thinks I lied to him.

"Well, I don't believe you. Until I see your mark on the future queen, I can't let you take over the throne," he says. I stand up angrily.

"I won't let you give me an ultimatum for the throne and I also won't let you rush me into marking my mate!" I leave his office, slamming the door.

I have to clear my head after the meeting with my father. I know him well and he won't let me take over; I don't want to rush Nala into anything she isn't ready for. I go to my room when it was getting late.

"Nala, I call out when I didn't see her inside the room.

"Don, is that you?" her tiny baby voice asks from the bathroom, making me smile.

"Yes," I say. She comes out wearing my shirt as she sits down happily.

"Why are you so excited?" I can't help but ask.

"I made a new friend and she wants to go out tomorrow," she says. I am happy she made a friend fast because I'll be really busy this week and I don't want her to be bored while I am away.

"That's good. Who is it?" I ask curiously.

"Vivian," she says.  I smile knowing exactly what she was going to do tomorrow.

"Trust me, you are going to talk throughout tomorrow."

"Why?" she asks.

"Vivian likes to talk and shop. She's Carson's mate," I say, and she nods.

"What did you talk about with your father?" she asks suddenly. Should I tell her the truth? I should. I don't want to lie about anything anymore.

"The throne," I explain. "he wants to see my mark on someone before he gives me the throne."

"Why?"

"I have no idea, Nala, but you don't have to worry about this," I said. I can see that she is already worrying about it.

"Mark me, Don."
