When I received a call from Carson that morning, I knew I couldn't take Nala to school.
"Ben, tell her she can go wherever she wants to after school," I said to the driver, "but she has to call me, so I know where she is."
"Sure, bye," he replied, and I left the house. Yesterday's kiss still replayed in my head. It was so lovely, a big step in our faulty relationship. I quickly headed over to Carsons.
"Can you believe Kim made Nala think we were more than friends? She is unbelievable," I ranted, and Carson smiled.
"Nala gave you a second chance, though. Don't blow it."
"Why did you get to be the reasonable one?"
"I know, man, I am far more reasonable than you will ever be."
"Okay, enough of that. What do we do about the attack? I think it's better if we try to talk things out," I said, and Carson looked shocked.
"Hi, is this actually Don I'm speaking to?" he asked, and I laughed.
"Yes, of course, don't be silly," I stated.
"Since when did you prefer talking to violence?"
"Talking worked for Nala, and I think it can work in this situation."
"I'm happy she finally has an effect on you." I smiled; I guess she did.
"Let's set a date for the meeting with them," I said.
"Of course. I will tell you when I decide," Carson replied.
"Great, bye." I walked out.
Nala's POV
I woke up and Don wasn't in the room, but it didn't bother me since he usually left early. I had my bath and went to the closet to pick out an outfit. I came face to face with a note on the wall.
I just wanted you to know.
I care about you, and I'm sorry I
made you think otherwise.
Good morning, sunshine.
-Your Don
I smiled at the note. I guess he really wanted to make it up to me. I put on a gown and I let my hair down. I went downstairs for breakfast. The table conversation was normal, with Claire's constant teasing and Betty's questions about Don and me.
"Don said you could go out with your friends today, but you have to tell him where you are so he can pick you up," Ben explained, and I smiled.
"OK, Ben, thank you." I left for school.
I met my friends in the hallway and I ran towards them.
"Guess what, guys," I squealed.
"What, Nala? You know we suck at guessing," Willow whined.
