Camila

Things were finally starting to look up. Lauren and I had been on fire ever since I decided to spice things up in the bedroom; and it wasn't even really about the sex. In fact, we had barely even seen each other since that night. June had been a busy month, filled with Lauren going to Thailand and Vegas, and me going to Spain, plus still finding time for the studio. We were reduced to Facetiming and late night phone calls from different time zones again.

Yet, we were still most definitely on fire. It seemed like Lauren was starting to put all of the Matthew stuff behind her, and, finally, I was too. User32541 realized that the end was in sight, which meant that I was almost free. I knew that once she saw the Señorita music video, she would start to leave me alone, knowing that the rumors would start flying, and that a breakup announcement was in order. My team had told me that it would only be a matter of days.

Just a few more days. Then I would finally be able to breathe again. I wouldn't have to hide things from Lauren, or from anyone for that matter. I would be in a PR relationship with my best friend, who I would feel entirely comfortable with. I would be solely focused on making my next album, and I would be free. It felt like it had been years since I had felt so relaxed.

To make things even better, Lauren was Facetiming me again. I grinned at the sight of her name on my phone and sat up in my bed to answer.

"Hi!" I beamed.

"Hey." she returned, her lips formed into a hard line.

Something was wrong.

How could something be wrong? Everything was supposed to be amazing. Maybe she was just having a bad day, or maybe she was starting her period.

"What's up, baby?" I asked cautiously, furrowing my brow.

"Well, I was waiting for a decent time to call you, knowing that you don't like waking up in single digit hours." Lauren explained.

"You know me so well."

Lauren simply sent a sarcastic nod in my direction, coupled with a skeptical expression.

"What is that?" I asked.

"What is what?" she replied.

"That look. That response. This whole...vibe you've got going on. Is everything ok?"

She scoffed and proceeded to just stare back at me.

"What?" I pressed, getting frustrated with her attitude.

"I'm shook that you don't know." she mumbled.

"Well how am I supposed to know if you don't tell me? As psychic as we can be, I really can't read your mind, Lauren."

"Yeah, clearly. Because if you could, you would've never been a part of the bullshit that I witnessed this morning."

My eyes widened, my jaw dropping a bit. What the fuck was going on?

"Is this a joke? I literally just woke up." I said.

"The fucking video, Camila." she said flatly.

I froze.

"The...Señorita?" I asked.

"What else?" she responded.
