Chapter 20: A New Muse

"I definitely needed this." I sighed.

I relaxed into my pool chair, reveling in the way the sun felt on my face. I tapped my nails against the plastic in time to the faint music playing on the speaker next to us.

"Yeah, I can't imagine the stress you're going through right now." Arlissa responded.

Yup, I was finally reunited with Arlissa and it was exactly what I needed without knowing it. After the way she had handled the news of Camila and me, I knew that I could trust her and that I really loved being around her. Plus, it helped that she had asked me to be in her upcoming music video, and I was super pumped for that, too.

As for the "stress I was going through"? Of course, it had to do with Camila again. I had a feeling that I would regret telling her to turn up the heat with Shawn, but was trying to keep it at the forefront of my mind that we really had no other choice. Matthew hadn't gotten back to me with any sort of significant update yet, so it kind of felt like I was just watching Camila be all over Shawn for no reason.

The world was watching it.

"I think it's really cool that you guys are so secure, though." Arlissa added.

I smiled weakly at her kind words, but couldn't help but feel slightly annoyed. I was starting to get sick of people "admiring" our relationship; first Matthew, now Arlissa. In my opinion, we were just doing what we needed to do, so it was hard to bask in any sort of glory.
