PART 1

Ten days. Ten days after one of the most magical Christmases I'd had in such a long time.

Just ten days and Lauren and I had already broken things off again.

JUST KIDDING.

Ten days, and we were still blissfully, deeply, and madly in love, basking in each other's Christmas gifts. I had practically spent my holiday just getting texts from Lauren telling me what she thought about every single song on the CDs I had made for her. I loved when she did this; shamelessly sending me a million texts even if I couldn't answer her right away. It was yet another reflection of the newest phase of our relationship: an unabashed, completely secure, and totally honest one. I was so ready to jump into 2019 with her.

L: Hello my love

Speak of the devil.

L: Text me when you're home and safe please❤️

I smiled down at the sweet words from my green eyed beauty. I immediately navigated away from the text and pressed the call button.

"Is this you texting me when you're home and safe?" her raspy voice appeared on the other end.

"Yeah.", I smirked, "It's 2019. This is the future of texting. You get my voice along with it."

"Wait, that'd actually be so dope."

"Would people ever actually talk to each other though?"

"Are you saying texting isn't talking?"

"It's not the same as talking talking."

"But maybe if you could hear the person's voice, it would be."

"I don't think a robot voice could capture my essence." I said, emphasizing the s sounds in the last word.

I heard Lauren giggle, causing my smile to grow wider.

"Alright, well thank you for the futuristic text. How was breakfast?" she asked.

I had just gone out to breakfast with my family, which was what made Lauren's text even more adorable. It's not like it was late at night or I was at some crazy party; yet she still wanted to know when I was home and safe. She had been so incredibly attentive lately, and I had a feeling that it had to do with her missing me. Sure, it had only been ten days, but it had also been TEN DAYS. That's a lot of time apart when you're in love, and when you don't have the most conventional lifestyles.

As usual, Lauren and I being apart was completely out of our control. She had flown back to LA just the day before I had flown back into Miami because her team was ready to start promoting her newest single, and my team was happy to have me as far away from Lauren as possible, even after forcing me to spend New Years with Matthew.

Honestly, I found myself feeling bad for Matthew, of all people. He had to make his appearances just like I did, but the difference was, it was basically like he was my accessory or something. He was the one who had to spend the holidays with my family and show up wherever based on my schedule. Then again, we'd ended up on his turf this time around, roaming around the UK in the icy weather. Matthew would always say he didn't mind it all much, especially when he got to see places he'd never been before, but I knew he had to have wanted to be anywhere but with his fake girlfriend on New Years Eve.
