Abhi’s POV:
When Naina told me about the guy that hit on her, I had started to get protective. Any normal friend would have laughed at her and then ask for details or whatever, but it was different between the two of us. We had our fair share of jokes and great moments but other times it got really serious between us. Maybe I’m looking way too into this, maybe I should back off. I’m her friend not her father. We ended up joking around and just plain hanging out. We don’t necessarily need to be talking to each other to have fun, just being in the presence of one another is enough. I told her about my last day back home. My mum was in tears at the train station. You would think that a mother of this day and age wouldn’t do that, but nup. Naina had started to cry from laughing so hard when I told the story for her. She said that what happened was classic curry mum thing.
Naina went back to her room after a hour or so. I enjoy hanging out with her and she is the one person I will always enjoy talking to. After she left, I went back to familiarizing myself with the room. I had put everything that needed to be put away before Naina had come and little bit during. She had helped a bit. I fell onto my bed and started scrolling through my phone.
“Hey man, how you going?” My roommate asked as he walked through the door and towards his bed.
“Hey Aman. I’m doing good bro, what about you?” I looked up from my phone and sat myself upright.
Aman and I had first met when I had walked into our room. He was putting up a collage of a bunch of cities around the world. My first impression of him was ok, He seemed like a cool guy but I never thought we would end up being good mates. .. Of course, it’s only been half a day so who knows what will happen between us but so far, so good.
“I’m doing ok myself.” He had a worried look on his face. He kept sighing and raking his hand through hair.
“You look kind of worried bro…you ok?” I didn’t ask confidently. Maybe it is too soon to ask.
“I don’t know man…there’s this girl and, well, she is wow!” Aman nervously laughed as he sat down on his chair and twisted it around to face me.
“Great description! ”I said sarcastically while applauding him.
Shut up yaar! You know what I mean. She’s beautiful, funny, smart and a great person in general but we barely know each other. And there is so much I want to say to her but it’s too soon. I don’t want to freak her out or anything,” Aman spit out everything that was worrying him in one go.
“Well, I think you should wait it out. If you really like her then she will be yours, just give it time. You can’t rush these things, especially since you barely know her. I guess that’s the best thing to do, wait it out and then see what happens.” I shrugged, trying to be helpful. I don’t usually give advice so this was definitely different for me.
“Yeah, I guess so. You seem to have a lot of experience huh? Casanova!” Aman laughed.
“Haha something like that. My best friend is a girl, and we’re pretty close. So yeah, I guess I kinda known how girls are sometimes. I’m no expert though!” I scratched the back of my neck and laughed.
“Lucky guy! If I don’t end up with my girl, I’m going for your friend!” Aman said, joking .
“Haha! Don’t even try bro! You’re going to have to answer to me then.” I faked getting annoyed at him and then laughed off the joke. But seriously, if he went for Naina, I would not be happy.
We spent the rest of the morning chilling as well as doing our own thing. It was great to have found a good friend in Aman. I would have hated to end up with some guy who I didn’t like or get along with as a roommate.
