Naina's POV:
Life is about to get different, I thought to myself. University was going to start in a week and I am super nervous. I am not too good at making friends, especially if its in such a place like uni. I am just happy that Abhi will be there with me. He is always the one to be with me when there is no one else. Even if all his friends are there.
The train which I’m taking to uni is a long one. Two hours rushing through countryside, sometimes through towns and cities. From Pennsylvania to Princeton, New Jersey was an idea I was beginning to regret. All of my (actually very few) friends will be staying in Pennsylvania. But not to fear, I have Abhi with me, though he won’t be arriving for a couple more days. I sorted myself out and comfortably planted myself next to the window, leaning my head against the frame. With my headphones in, I began listening to songs, my thoughts running wild. I love train rides because they gave me time to sit in peace. Ilahi started playing. Rolling green hills rushed by, the sun high in the sky. If only I could open a window and feel the air. A small smile lit up my face, because Ilahi is the perfect travel song. I leant my head back, one hand resting on my lap with my phone, and the other protectively on my bags. With these thoughts, I drifted off to sleep.
I woke up an hour later with still an hour of the trip left. I glanced out of the window. I saw a murky lake as we went across a bridge. Kabira had started playing. I thought back to the time when my brother got married. My grandma had made sure it wasn't similar to other Indian weddings. The celebrations crossed over a week during July. Even in America, Indian's don't miss out on the 'Karan Johar' style weddings. A smile crept up on my face remembering when Abhi and I were forced to dance for the sangeet. That week was definitely one of my best. There was dancing, food and most of all, I wasn't alone. Very nostalgic really. Everything was great until the day after everything finished. I had known the whole time but it didn't hit me till the last minute. My brother and his wife were moving to the LA which was something I wasn't too happy about but who would be? I think way too much into these things. I put my things to a side and went to the little bar they had. I decided to order a coffee, while I was paying, a guy came up to me.
"Excuse miss?" He asked, tapping me on the shoulder. My back was still to him.
"Oh, umm, yes?" I turned around. He stood alarmingly close to me. I stepped back a bit.
"Do I know you? You look quite familiar." He spoke, smiling while staring at me.
"I'm sorry, but I don't think so." I replied, turning around. He grabbed my hand, and turned me back towards him.
"Hey what are you-"
" I just realised why. You look a lot like my future wife." He smirked, looking me straight in the eyes.
I do not believe this guy! How does he have the audacity to say something like that to me! I yanked my hand out of his.
"That is completely and utterly disgusting! Who do you think you are?!" I didn't even wait for a reply. I walked off with my coffee in one hand and my purse in the other.
"Wait! Don't go! I didn't mean to offend you!" He called out.
Well too late, he already did.
