Ch.17

During our walk back Selena kept teasing me about how she thinks I like Luke. Maybe I do, maybe I don't. The world will never know. I don't want to ruin our friendship with awkwardness. Being friends is ok I guess. Besides, I don't know a thing about dating, even though kids my generation have been dating since kindergarten.

I smile and go downstairs in my unicorn onesie. What? I like animal onsies.

"Hey honey, haven't talked to you in awhile." My dad wraps an arm around my shoulder. "Nothing much." I reply. "You haven't been seeing those boys have you?" He looks sternly at me. "Maybe. Look dad, why can't I just be friends with them!" I exclaim. "I don't want my little girl to grow up." He frowns. "Dad, I'm only twelve." I cross my arms. "So? Kids grow up too fast all the time." He crosses his arms as well. "Well I'm not like those kids!" I huff. "Yes you are, they're all the same." He replies. "Well they're the best friends I never had and I'm keeping them!" I yell at him and storm off to the dining room to eat my salad.

Everyone else comes in and sits down. Im across my dad and my mom sitting next to him. Selena is beside me.

"So how were your day girls?" My mom asks, breaking the silence.

"Good. My math teacher farted and we got ice cream with Lily's friends." She responded while munching on a crouton.

"Wait, you guys were with-" My dad starts.

"Dad look, they are actually pretty cool once you get to know them. Besides, they're the only real friends she never had." Selena cuts him off.

What did she meant by that? I have an all to familiar feeling in my chest.

Hurt.

"Well I'm sorry that I'm not sociable like you." I keep my voice down cause honestly, I'm tired of yelling.

"I didn't mean it like that." Selena looks at me.

"Sure, that's what my last 'friend' said." I used my fingers quoting.

"I'm not hungry anymore, goodnight." I get up and go upstairs to my room.

I don't dare let my tears fall. I wish I was in my perfect world where everyone was happy and let me be. Where I could spend the rest of my life with my four best real friends, as Selena had implied. Where my mom and dad would get along and off my back about the littlest things. Where me and a guy could like each other for a change. I already know who I want that guy to be.

Friday

"Top of the morning to ya." Tori says in a terrible Irish accent.

I'm in sixth period and Tori and Niall are talking about...I don't even know. Most of the time they talk about Niall or Steven, and its quite hilarious.

"You know, Irish people really don't talk like that." Steven pipes in, not taking his eyes off of his Percy Jackson book.

"Yeah Tori, that's offensive." Niall frowns, but it doesn't last long since he starts laughing.

I love Niall, in a friendly way.. He sees everything like it's the best thing ever. He has an amazing yet funny laugh that makes you want to laugh with him. No, you have to laugh with him, it's the law. I love his messy blonde hair that he can pull off. I can see brown creeping up in the back. He has blue eyes that are mesmerizing, like Harry's green ones and Luke's ocean blue eyes. He has the most messed up teeth I ever saw, but the best smile ever. I think everything about him is great.

I think I might have a, tiny crush on him. Just a tiny one won't hurt anybody.

*Bell Rings*

We all say bye and head off our ways. I see Luke at his locker along with Michael and Calum. I get to my locker and put my combo in.

"So, I heard you guys got ice cream without me." Michael crosses his arms, stepping towards me

"Maybe." I mumble, looking back into my locker

"Do you know how much I like ice cream?" He takes another step forward. He's so close I can smell the cologne he's wearing. Which smells good btw.

"No I do not." I cross my arms and take a step forward as well.

All of a sudden I'm being pushed away from Michael and Luke is in between us.

"Ok, that's enough." He lets out a deep breath.

"I was gonna tell her how much I like ice cream!" Michael shouts. He always shouts.

"Oh well. Lily you better hurry up to class so you don't be late." He smiles at me which makes me blush.

"Awe, are you blushing?" Luke cups my face. The result of that makes me stop breathing.

"Uh, Lily?" Luke stares in to my eyes.

"Guys, I think I broke Lily." Luke calls out behind him.

Calum and Michael walk over and move their eyes between us.

"I'll just leave you two alone." Calum cheekily smiles

"No! What am I supposed to do!" He calls out but they're already gone.

After they leave Luke stares in my eyes again. Why didn't the bell ring yet? Never mind, it just rang. Even that doesn't get me to move.

Luke is still staring deeply in my eyes. He starts to get closer until our noses touch. That made me move.

"Bye Luke, I uh, gotta go." I stutter

Like that I'm speed walking to my last class and Luke is standing there all alone thinking,
