Sam sat in the locker room, listening to Cora giving a little speech about how they would ring the bell tonight. She was lacing up her black Nike shoes. They were new for the year, yet they were already starting to look rundown.

Maddie was in her little corner, beside the unused showers. Mason was sitting on the bench, Claudia was right behind Mason, with Kenzie sitting behind Claudia. Sam was leaning agasint the wall, that connected  to the bench. Coach came in with a seventh grader. Page O'Dell, of the O'Dell sisters.

Page sat beside Sam, on the floor. The Coach, grabbed the marker and started to draw out the plan for the open play.

"Cora, ponit guard." Coach said, Cora wore a smug smile. "Kenzie, post. Claudia top left wing. . Sam and Maddie here." The coach  ponited to the right side. Sam was supposed to be on the bottom, while Claudia and Maddie were to be at the top on both sides.

They all nodded, and Page sighed. Sam resured her.

"Don't worry. You'll start, one day."  Sam gave her a smile, and Page nodded. They heard the buzzer, and they all stood up. Cora handed Maddie a ball. Maddie and Cora were the team Captins.

They all went to play the game.

The game was in a blur. Smithies had gotten better, not all that better, but still. They would get the ball, and then Sam's team would get the ball. Rosman ended up with the win. Sam had scored her record of 20 ponits. Smithies had many players and they fouled Sam mostly. Allowing Sam to score 10 foul shots and 5 regular shots.

Lily met Sam with a cup of coffee bought from the concession stand. Lily handed the coffee to her.

"How are you feeling?" Lily asked, noticed that Sam looked very run down.

"Eh, I have some homework." Sam said, drinking some of the coffee.

"I saw the books. Start doing your math homework will ya?" Lily asked, as Sam and her started to walk outside and to Lily's car.

"Stop looking in my progess book will ya?" Sam asked, getting into the front seat. Sam turned the heater off, she was still really hot.

"Nah, I'm good." Lily said, grumbling about how Sam turned the heater off, and how Lily was freezing.

"So, what was the fight about this morning?" Sam asked, looking outside.

        "Money, as usual."

"Wow, kind of stupid. We don't have trouble with money." Sam said.

"Yeah, but Dad wanted to get some things."

        "Again?"

"Yup" Lily comfirmed, pulling into the drive way. Were a black car was waiting, but the red car of their mothers was not there. Sam shrugged it off, but Lily was worried. Lily went into the house, with Sam following.

They found their mother alseep on the couch, with her book on the floor open. She fell asleep reading her book.

"Where's Dad?" Sam asked, but Lily was a step ahead. Dad wasn't home.

"He must have taken the wrong car, again." Lily said, walking back down the stairs. Sam nodded, and went upstairs. She was so tired, and really wasn't going to do her homework. She got a shower in, changing into her night sweatshirt and shorts.

When she laid down, she was out like a light.
