Thirty Four

Zayn wakes up at 7 the next morning. Wow! He has been getting up early these past few days that his body adapted it and woke him up that early? But he doesn't have time to appreciate how biology works because-

He is entangled with Liam. His head is on Liam's shoulder, arm around his stomach, Liam's one arm is awkwardly placed between them, but the other one is hugging Zayn.

And Zayn doesn't want to get up.

He slowly raises his head, moves a bit back to look at Liam. He hasn't seen Liam properly for a week now. Hasn't had a proper argument with him. Or fight.

He needs to leave for work, but he really wants to talk to Liam. Just because.

Should he wake him up and fight? He could say Liam was cuddling him without his permission. But that would be hypocritical.

Does he have enough time to cuddle more?

Zayn looked at the clock and-

Shoot. He needs to get up now, if he doesn't want to be late. He has an important meeting today with the client he has been seeing and they're going to sign the agreement. His hard work is going to have its result and he can't ruin that just because he wants to cuddle.

He looked longingly at Liam. Zayn had missed him. Did Liam miss him?

Meh. He should stop this. He can get back and cuddle Liam without his permission, tonight. Vengeance. Ha!

Liam woke up to an empty bed and frowned looking at the time. 8 in the morning. Did Zayn already leave? This early!?

He sighed staring at the ceiling. No point in staying in bed.

One more day of working in the office alone. Boring! When did he get so used to Zayn that he finds working alone boring? He has been working in an office alone for almost an year now.

Liam sighed again before getting up. He needs to freshen up and go to the office. He has work to do.

Too many dusty files in here. Doesn't anyone clean the room?

Liam thought as he put back the files in the shelf in the back office. He was looking for that one file he could use as reference for the project. It would make his work easier.

"Found it!"

Liam did a little victory dance. Zayn is not here to tease him for that. So he can do whatever he wants.

Does he want Zayn to be here to tease him, though? Maybe he does. But he wouldn't let Zayn know that.

Liam walked back to his office, waved at Stephen, felt relief when he saw Roman's empty seat, and pushed opened his office door. He put the file down on his desk and turned around and froze.

"Holy shit!"

Charlie muttered looking at the mail he just received. He had asked one of his friends to get information on Roman Kemp. And what he found was too much.

The guy wrecked homes for fun. Has caused too many divorces and some even resulted in suicides. Apparently his father had covered it all up by feeding money to the law.

But it was just not sleeping around. The guy was an addict. He had been caught before in some drug scandal and Mr. Kemp effectively wiped away that news as well. Thanks to his hacker friend, Charlie now has the proof to help Liam out of this. He can hand over these to Liam and then Liam can submit the report to the Head, kick out Roman. And then maybe Charlie can build a strong friendship with Liam.
