Chapter 38 - Forgivness

When Bruce and I make it back to the compound, I join Rhodey as he was in a meeting with Secretary Ross.

"Ah...Y/N." Ross says, turning to me.

"Hello sir."

"Congrats on the engagement..." He asks.

"Thanks...." I say awkwardly, looking to Rhodey

"Mr. Secretary...." I hear a voice behind me. I turn around to see Steve, Nat, Wanda, Sam, and Vision.

"You got some nerve. I'll give you that." Ross says.

"You could use some of that right now." Nat nods. I keep my eyes on Steve, he looked much different. More muscular and with a beard.

"The world's on fire. And you think, all is forgiven?" Ross asks.

"I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way past asking for permission. Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight." Steve takes a step forward, looking right at Ross. "And if you wanna stand in our way...we'll fight you, too."

Secretary Ross looks at Rhodey, "Arrest them."

"All over it." He swipes off hologram; the computer beeps twice. "That's a court-martial. It's great to see you, Cap." He hugs Steve.

"You too, Rhodey." Natasha also hugs him. She then moves in to hug me.

"Hey beautiful. I love the hair." I smile and look her over, Wanda then runs over and hugs me. "I missed you both." I smile. "Vision... your hurt." I point.

He gives me a short hug, "I'm fine. It's nice to see you." He nods.

"Well. You guys really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of years." Rhodey says.

"Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five star." Sam nods.

"Uh, I think you look great." Bruce says awkwardly from behind me. "Uh... heh... Yeah. I'm back."

Nat smiles, "Hi, Bruce."

"Nat."

Sam nudges my side, "This is awkward." I slap his arm and laugh with him.

My attention turns back to Steve as he walks closer to me.
"Y/N..." He whispers. I feel hot tears streaming down my face as I lunge at him, I pull him into a tight hug.

"Please....don't let us fight like that again." I whisper, laying my head on his chest. "I missed you too much."

"I've missed you Y/N...a lot." He smiles. "Y/N I'm-"

"Steve I've forgive you...both of you." I cut him off. I pull away and look up at him, noticing the tears in his eyes.

"Thank you Y/N. I don't deserve it your kindness." He nods.

"Stop it." I punch his arm lightly. "You guys talk, catch me up when I'm back. I need to change.

I sat in Tony's shop in my sports bean and a pair of spandex shorts, I was staring at the scar
on my leg when I hear a knock beside me. "Sorry I didn't know you were still changing." Steve says, looking away.

"It's alright, you can come in." Steve sits next to me on the bench and stares at my leg.

"I thought your wounds always heal?" He asks.

"I thought so too. This is the spot that my bone was sticking out....when you..."

"Mm." Steve cuts me off, looking away from me.

"It's okay Steve.....in a way it reminded me of you." Steve looks at me with a weird expression, "I know it's stupid but there's not much here that reminds me of you anymore. This was the only thing I had....I missed you my friend." I smile.
