HEAVING IN ANXIOUS BREATHS, VEDA CRADLED HER KNEES TO HER CHEST AND STARED AT THE FLOOR. Eyes clawed around the room, trying to hold her grip on reality while everything continued to start spinning worse and worse. Nothing was working, nothing was bringing her back. Only one thing came to mind to help.

Reaching behind her to grab her phone, she scrambled a quick message to the one person appearing in her head. call pls, was all she typed. It was read seconds later, and an incoming phone call followed.

"Hey, what's up?" Sapnap's voice inquired, poppy as always.

Veda tried to control her jagged breathing, throat squeezing to stop louder sobs from wandering into the atmosphere around her.

"Veda?"

"Hi," was the shortest thing she could think to force out, though it was cut off with her having to gulp some air back into her lungs.

"You ok?"

She didn't reply, even though she wanted to. She wanted to tell him that everything was alright, and then ask about his day. She wanted him to talk about his day, or what he was doing, or anything else on his mind. She just wanted to hear him.

"Talk, please. Just talk."

Hearing the way she forced it out, so clearly shook up, Sapnap's eyebrows furrowed. "Wait, are you alright? Are you crying?"

"Panicking, kinda. Trying to—" calm down, she attempted to spit out, but yet another gasp for oxygen stopped her from doing so.

Sapnap sat up in bed, eyes widening. The last time he had been on the phone with someone in a situation like this was months ago, when Dream's cat died. And this was even more different, considering Veda was the girl he was in complete adoration of.

"Oh, ok. That's ok. You're ok. What do I talk about?"

"Anything."

"Ok, well...today I woke up to my cat cuddling me. It was nice. I listened to music awhile. Music is good. Lots of the music was from you. And then I went out for a drive because I needed to buy something for my step-mom. I think you'd like her.

"When I was driving I had the windows rolled down, and my hair looked like shit thanks to the wind. But I went into Target anyway. I swear someone recognized me, this little kid in line, so I just kind of awkwardly left. After Target I got some Panera and ate it when I got home.
