DREAM AND SAPNAP WERE DOING AS THEY DID MANY TIMES—A LATE NIGHT CALL BEFORE DRIFTING TO BED. George was there earlier, but thanks to timezones, he left to sleep. While Dream aimlessly scrolled through notifications on his computer, Sapnap was connected to the Discord call on his phone.

He was already laying in bed, staring up at the ceiling illuminated purple from his LED lights. Scattered thoughts drifted to and fro around his mind, like different ripples starting in a pond.

"You're quiet. Everything ok?" Dream questioned, taking in the momentarily silence.

"Yeah, just thinking."

"About what?"

Sapnap scoffed, rolling over on his side with his phone on his pillow next to him. "Anything and everything, Dream."

"Well it's enough to shut you up, so I think it's something you specifically don't wanna say," Dream replied, tongue sharp.

"How do you know me so well?"

"I've known you since we were barely teenagers. Now tell me what's got you going quiet."

"If I tell you..." Sapnap started, running a hand through his hair. He bit down hard on his lip, deciding if it was best to continue "...you can't tell anyone else. Not even George, I'll tell him on my own."

"Yeah, I won't tell. But shit, did something happen?"

"I guess you could say that."

Sapnap took another glance at his ceiling. Inhale. Exhale. He needed to say it; he needed to stop avoiding it.

"I think I might like Veda. Like...more than a friend."

There was no response from Dream for a few seconds. Then, a shuttered breath.

"Wow. I...was not expecting that. I mean—are you—and you're sure you feel that way?"

Sapnap muttered back, "I wanna say it so it doesn't get worse if I'm just denying it. I don't know, it's hard. I can't really help it, we've been talking daily after all. I missed her more than I thought."

"Well you liked her when we were younger, it's understandable. It's just...it's complicated. She has a boyfriend—"
