Nana picked Devyn up from work and brought her home, talking about the plans for the dance tomorrow night. "Well, Nana, I'm going with Kiira and Natalie to the salon to have our hair done, then I'll be home around 3. Annabel is coming over to help do my makeup and stuff, then he should be here at 5. I think we have to swing by his house, so his mom can take pictures before we go for dinner, then off for the night. I'm not sure how late I'll be.". Nana smiled over at her, containing the urge to tell her what was waiting for her at the house. "Alright Devyn... he... he seems like a sweet boy... a little rough around the edges.. but.. sweet. How serious are you two?". She blushed a little "I... I really like him Nana... He makes me feel... special.". Nana looked back at her "You two aren't....." "NANA! No... no Nana... he's.. he's .. a gentleman.." she sighed "he's almost too shy to even kiss me.. so, I don't think you have to worry.". Nana smiled a playful smile "I'm starting to like him more and more every day.". Devyn looked out the window and whispered "So am I.".
........
She stepped out of the shower, feeling refreshed from the cleansing water, sitting on the bed putting lotion on her freshly shaved legs. She looked around the room, not able to help the feeling that something was off. She let her eyes roam the room, till she finally realized it. Her ceiling fan was off. That was odd, she always left it running, so that the breeze cooled her from the heat of the shower. She stood, pulling the cord that made the fan begin to spin. She stood beneath it, startled a bit as what seemed like a hundred small pieces of paper flew off of the fan blades raining over her head like she was standing in a snow storm. "What the hell....?" she said as some landed on her shoulder and others landed on the bed and floor at her feet.
She picked a few out of her hair and began reading them. 'you're beautiful' 'thank you' 'I'm so glad I sent those notes' 'you're perfect' 'I can't believe you picked me' 'you make me smile' 'you're precious to me' ' you'll never know how perfect you are' 'I can't wait til tomorrow'. It was like a hundred little valentine's heart messages were hand written and then showered over her head. She couldn't contain the smile, or the sudden overwhelming flow of happy tears that streamed down her cheeks as she found a stray note that read 'I love you Devyn'. She looked up to see Nana standing in the doorway, grinning at her "When.. how...?" Nana smiled at her "Your boyfriend came by while you were at work... That boy.." she smiled shaking her head. Devyn smiled over at her ".. is perfect Nana...". Nana smiled back "maybe not perfect.. but.. he seems to think that you hung the moon.. I think I just might like him.". Devyn smiled back at her "Nana... I think I just might love him.". Nana slightly shook her head grinning "oh to be young and in love." she walked over, giving her a tight hug, and kiss on the head "Seems like, to me, that he'd be easy to love."
After Nana left the room, she took her phone, quickly sending him a text 'you made me cry ... ya butt'. She heard the alert a minute later 'I'm sorry... I hoped you'd like it', she laughed as she replied 'happy tears ... dork' then smiled at the almost instant reply 'surprise :)'. She sent a reply back 'thank you baby' and once again, for a split second her heart skipped a beat when she read the reply 'I love you' then sent back 'I love you too Chase'. She lay on her bed, phone on her chest when it went off with his reply 'good night sweetheart... I'll see you tomorrow.' then quickly sent back 'goodnight baby.. I can't wait.'.
..........
Saturday morning came, in all of it's glory, the sun shining through the window, pulling her from a sweet dream. Devyn pulled herself from the comfort of her blankets, making preparations for the day, hanging her dress and shawl on the back of the door to let it smooth out. She checked her phone for messages, finding one from Chase that read 'good morning beautiful.. I'll see you at 5.'. She blushed, slightly giggling, as she replied 'it better be worth the wait'. She found another message from Kiira letting her know that she'd be there to pick her up soon, so she quickly threw on her bummy outfit and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Smiling as the little Civic pulled in front of the house.
