It took him almost a full minute to realize that he had stopped breathing.  Their eyes met, and he finally remembered that oxygen is a good and necessary thing, when his lungs began working again.  She stood there, silently, smiling softly as his eyes took in the full sight of her.  It was funny, that she knew, it wasn't a lustful look, but one of admiration as his eyes slowly went from her feet to her head then back to her eyes.  He couldn't help but to stare.  'oh my god' he thought to himself as he tried to focus on breathing in and out.  The purple shoes, flats thank god, led up to her long shapely legs, the purple dress, clinging to her hips and curves of her body, covered by the black shawl hanging on her shoulders.  The neckline of the dress, revealing enough to tempt, but still be classy, with a heart shaped pendant hanging just above her breasts.  His eyes moved up, silently admiring her soft jawline, full lips, and beautiful eyes behind her glasses.  Her hair, a combination of a high ponytail, with ringlets, falling gracefully here and there, and the gentle, blushing smile that came to her lips as she stood, waiting for him to speak.  "Say something...." she whispered.

He smiled, looking over her one final time, then back to her eyes "Something...".  He held out the bouquet of carnations for her "my god Dev... you're beautiful." he said.  She blushed, taking the flowers "Thank you Chase..." she said as she looked over him.  She couldn't help but to smile as she took in the sight of him in the suit.  He stood in the black suit, grey shirt, and that tie that was bright enough to knock your eyes out.  His strong, broad shoulders, beneath the jacket, all neatly groomed and smiling as though he were in shock.  He wasn't what you would see on a billboard, or a magazine cover, but to her, he was her small piece of perfection.  She reached up, gently tugging his tie, pulling him closer, leaning into his ear "mmm... baby.. it was worth the wait." she smiled as she let him go.

He blushed deeply as he entered the house, saying hello to a smiling Nana, then being introduced to Annabel.  He opened the case to the corsage, taking her wrist, slipping it over her hand and onto her wrist.  He frowned a little as he saw the clash of colors, then grinned sheepishly up at her.  "I love it Chase..  thank you.".  He smiled in relief, then took her hand as Nana made a big deal of snapping what seemed like hundreds of pictures.  "What time would you like her home tonight ma'am?" he asked as they were making their way to the door.  Nana made a show of thinking long and hard "Oh.. I don't know Chase.. Just remember.. the later she is.. the longer I have to sharpen my knives and clean out the freezer.".  He smiled back jokingly "I'll have her home by 7:30.".  They all laughed together then Nana replied "Not too late.. Ok.. You all have a good time, and bring her home safe." "Alright ma'am.. no later than midnight?".  She smiled at him "That sounds fine.. and Chase.. one more thing.. I'm not a ma'am.. you can call me Jean or Nana, whichever makes you comfortable.".  He smiled back at her "Alright... Nana.. I'll bring her home safe."

........

He led her out to the car, holding the door open to help her inside "Your chariot awaits my dear." he smiled.  She took his hand while sliding in, careful not to hit anything "well thank you kind sir." she laughed back at him.  They shared a few stories of the morning with each other on the way to his house when she was reminded "oh yeah... so.. I hear that you're a good dancer.".  He looked sideways at her, giving a half grin "dangit Kiira... No.. no .. really I'm not." "Mmmhm... we'll see.. just .. I want to apologize, in advance, for stepping all over your toes." she laughed.  He smiled back at her "it's okay hun... I'll walk on the bottoms, you walk on the tops.. and we'll be just fine.".  He pulled back up to the house, opening the door to help her out of the car and walking into the house.  "Momma.. we're here." he called out as they came through the door.

Bella Daniels came out from the kitchen, putting her hands up to cover her mouth as she smiled brightly.  "Oh... you look... oh.. let me grab my camera.".  Chase leaned over whispering into Devyn's ear "be patient... momma isn't much of a picture taker.. it'll take her a while to figure out what buttons to push, and she'll probably cut our heads off.".  She squeezed his hand, bumping her hip against his, whispering "you be nice.".   They stood, posing for the pictures smiling, being temporarily blinded by the flash.  "Alright momma.. that's enough." he laughed.  "Oh.. I can't help it.. you both just look.. and Devyn, honey, you look so beautiful.".  Devyn felt herself blushing slightly "Thank you Mrs. Daniels.".  "You better get along.. If you wait much longer, you'll never get a table.".  He smiled "Oh.. don't worry momma.. that won't be a problem.".  Devyn looked at him curiously, smiling at the memory of her victory "Oh? Where are we going?".  He smiled back "You can always find a table at McDonald's".  Devyn stuck her tongue out at him "Chase Lawrence Daniels...." momma started.  He grabbed Devyn's hand, giggling as he started pulling her out of the house "Gotta go babe.. she's breaking out all three names.. the broom handle is next.  Bye momma.. don't wait up. I love you.".
