The first Female Shifter

Chapter 4

After I told her my name and promised to help her.

I proceed to pick up the buck she killed and drag it to a place where I can start a fire to cook it for us.

She followed behind me silently

I looked over my shoulder and told her my name.

By the way I'm Jade.

She looked up from the ground to my eyes and nodded her head.

Can I ask you a question?

I hear her ask and she continued when I nodded my head.

How can you shift?

I heard stories when I was 5 that female wolves can't shift because the males are the protectors while the females are born only to make more males.

I was silent for a moment out of shock.

I didn't realize that's what people thought about us she wolves

In truth the reason she wolves can't shift is because that it's true that the males are the protectors but the reason females can't shift is because of power.

The females bodies are a lot weaker than the males

Their bodies are meant to create life not take it

So the moon goddess had made it so only males can shift.

But somewhere along the lines a female shifter came

We made it back to where I left my bag and clothes.

I handed her a shirt and shorts and found something for me to wear.

Normally I would have ate the kill in wolf form but I wanted a warm meal so I collected sticks to make a fire

Then pulled out my knives to skin and cut up the buck

As I did so I began to tell her the story my mom told me when I was young.

Before there was royals.

Before the humans knew about our kind.

Before there was the peace treaty

When There was only elders no kings and queens

The Greywood pack was having a celebration for the birthday of the future Alpha

It was his 4th birthday

It was peaceful ag first. Until they heard the first scream

A she wolf had been grabbed by a rogue that had made it all the way to the field where the celebration was being held

Everything happened so fast that the Alpha didn't even have time to command the she wolves and pups to make it to the safe house
