It was a Friday afternoon

It was a Friday afternoon. Michiko and Sakusa had planned to go to their secret haven that overlooked the city. However, Michiko had to stay after practice to talk with the coach, so Sakusa stood outside the gymnasium waiting for her. He saw a tall girl with light brown hair approach him. The tall ace was really hoping that she wasn't coming over to talk to him. The only person that he would let in his bubble was Michiko and occasionally his cousin.

"Hi Sakusa-kun!" the unfamiliar girl said with a sickeningly sweet voice.

"Who the heck are you?" he deadpanned.

The tall girl's demeanor slightly faltered at his bluntness, but she brushed it off by giving him a flirtatious smile.

"I'm Suzukawa Aimi, but you can call me Aimi," she batted her eyelashes.

Isn't she the president of my so-called fan club? "Ew..." the word spilled out of his mouth.

She briefly froze at his word choice. Aimi was shocked that someone could find her disgusting. The young man that she was so obsessed with bruised her ego. She ignored him and proceeded to attempt to seduce him. Aimi walked closer to Sakusa and put a hand on his chest and the other on his shoulder. Sakusa was starting to panic at the unwanted contact of her hands and tried to lean away.

"Oh, you don't really mean that," she purred, "I'm the prettiest girl in the school, so who wouldn't want me?"

"I certainly wouldn't want you," a voice sneered.

They both turned to the voice finding Michiko with a pissed-off look. She had a hand on her hip as a scary, dark energy seeped out of her small body. Sakusa sighed in relief seeing his tiny yet intimidating favorite person.

Michiko heard and saw their interaction as she exited the gymnasium. She was irritated that Aimi, an A-grade bitch, was trying to make moves on her boyfriend. However, when the small girl saw Aimi overstep her boundaries with Sakusa and noticed that he was internally having a panic attack, she became pissed.

"When did I ask you?" Aimi sneered back.

"I don't give a shit if you asked me or not. Yer bothering my boyfriend," Michiko spat in a low voice, her Kansai accent rolling off of her tongue.

The small girl grabbed Aimi's arms and lightly shoved them away from Sakusa. She stood between the tall girl and the tall ace. Michiko gave an intense glare to Aimi.

"Can't you see that yer making him uncomfortable? I thought you were his biggest fan and knew him so well," the small girl mocked.

Aimi slightly backed away and glanced at Sakusa and saw that his attention was stolen by Michiko. The tall girl became angry as she failed to make Sakusa hers. But Aimi also realized that she couldn't go any further than she was now. Michiko had gotten in the way again, and Aimi knew she couldn't get past the small girl.

"If you really loved Kiyoomi, you wouldn't obsess over him and let him be with whoever he chooses," Michiko said.

The small girl then looked up at Aimi with a chilling stare, "And it's truly disgusting that you didn't consider his feelings. You were too busy trying to satisfy your desire to get his attention that you didn't notice how upset he was getting at how close you were to him. How selfish of you."

Aimi knew she lost, but she didn't want to admit it. She huffed in frustration and stomped away from the couple. Michiko shook her head at the tall girl as her scary persona dissipated. She then turned to look at Sakusa with a concerned look.

"Are you ok, Omi?" she asked with a soft voice.

He grabbed the small girl and pulled her into a hug. Sakusa sighed again, grateful that she came just in time. He felt like he could breathe again. Michiko wrapped her arms around him and rubbed gentle circles on his back. He breathed in her scent as started to calm down. She smelled of vanilla and lavender.

"Do you want disinfectant spray," Michiko half-jokingly asked.

"You're enough to make the germs go away," he said as he placed his head on top of her own.

Michiko slightly blushed at his words and smiled into his chest. She moved her head to look up at his face. He looked down to the small girl as a sweet smile painted her lips. Although he had his mask on, Michiko could see the smile he had through his eyes.

"Are you ready to go?" he asked.

"Mhmm," she answered as she beamed up at him.

The two left for their secret haven. Michiko and Sakusa occasionally looked behind themselves to make sure that no one was following them and discover their special place. Once they arrived, Michiko sat down against a tree. Sakusa laid down against Michiko between her legs. He rested his head on her stomach as she ran her right hand through his hair. He relaxed into her touch and closed his eyes feeling her fingers lightly massage his scalp.

"Are you sure you're ok?" Michiko asks again.

"I am now that you're with me," he said quietly, "So that was the girl you told me about from last year."

Michiko hummed in response.

"What was her name again? Amy?"

"It's Aimi," the small girl giggled.

Everything about Michiko was just perfect to Sakusa. She always knew when his fears started to overtake him and would immediately help him. She was always considerate of others and their feelings, especially his. She was respectful, kind, and compassionate to everyone. The girl was beautiful, inside and out. A literal dream that came true.

"I love you so much," he sighed out.

Michiko froze as she processed his words. Her small hand stopped running through his curls. She felt her cheeks go hot, eyes widening. The small girl felt a surge of emotions overtake her. She was beyond happy, overjoyed. Michiko realized that she loved the tall ace a long time ago, but she of course didn't want to push him away by forcing her feelings onto him.

Sakusa noticed Michiko's quietness as she was lost in her thoughts. He sat up and turned around to look at her. He placed his hand on either side of her legs. The tall ace was a little embarrassed when he blurted his thought out loud, but he didn't regret confessing it to Michiko. It was what he honestly felt about the small girl. He saw a big grin on her face as her eyes beamed with joy. She gently placed her hands on his cheeks and brought him closer to her face.

Michiko placed a tender kiss onto Sakusa's forehead. She leaned back and looked at the tall ace with loving eyes. His eyes softened as he realized that she had felt the same. And after a long silence, she said the four words he had hoped to hear from her.

"I love you too."
