Middle School Graduation
It's graduation day, most of the third years are honestly kind of happy to leave middle school and transition to high school (A/n: yea, high school is great and all, but have you seen college?! High school could never).
"Hey, Izumi, are you planning to go to Itachiyama?"
"Yep! They recruited me for the girls' volleyball team, so I'll be going there on a sports scholarship. What about you, Michi Michi~ actually, say no more, I know you're going to Itachiyama with me," Izumi says with a satisfied grin, thinking about all of the dumb shit they're going to do together.
"Uh, Izumi, I'm going to Inarizaki..."
"Eh?!? Whyyy?!?"
Izumi's eyes start to sparkle with sad tears.
"I already told you this-"
"Why are you leaving meeee," Izumi wails like a clingy girlfriend, "My best friend is leaving me foreveeerrrrrr!"
"Izumi, I'm only going to be gone for a year," Michiko laughs and rolls her eyes as she continued, "Plus, my parents don't think I'm capable of living without them even though they're both constantly gone for work."
"Then live with meeee Michi Michi~" Izumi did her best to give puppy eyes like Puss n Boots, but it ended up looking like Donkey.
"Stop with that face. I can't live with you because my mom already made arrangements for me to live with my Auntie and cousins in Hyōgō," Michiko explains as she smiled sheepishly.
"Michiiiii-"
"Stop whining, Izumi."
"Okayyy. But you better text and call me all of the time! Otherwise, I'll come to steal you away from Inarizaki!"
"Don't worry, Izu. I promise to stay in touch. You're my best friend after all!"
"Thank you, Michi Michi~ Eh... there's Komori-kun," Izumi blushes as she caught sight of the thick-browed, brunette boy.
"You should go talk to him, Izu. You never know, it might be the last time you see him~" Michiko wiggled her eyebrows.
"You're right, Michi! I'll do that! See you later!"
Michiko chuckles as she watches her best friend sprint to the libero. I'll definitely miss her energy. She walked down the hallways, taking a small journey to her shoe locker. Once Michiko arrived, she started to put her shoes and other valuables in a duffel bag to bring back home.
"Oi."
Michiko turned to the owner of the voice and was met with someone's chest. She slightly tilted her head to get a better look at the taller person. It was Sakusa... not wearing a mask. His black curls perfectly framed the two moles on his face. Michiko silently thanks the gods for having graced their presence in the form of Sakusa's face. Wait, what the hell am I thinking? This is only the second time I'm actually meeting him in person!
"Did you need something, Sakusa-san?"
He forgot why he even went up to Michiko in the first place. Sakusa had seen Michiko and Izumi part ways, so he thought it would be the perfect opportunity to talk to her. But talk about what? Thank her for the hand sanitizer? No, you idiot. You already thanked her when she had first given it to you. Why did he feel so compelled to go to Michiko?
She was still waiting for an answer as she watched Sakusa stare at her. His eyes gave a look, making it seem like he wanted to be anywhere but where he is right now. Michiko thought if she did anything to him that caused him to be annoyed or mad at her. Maybe he didn't like the hand sanitizer I gave him???
Great. Now she thinks you're some weirdo trying to stalk her. Think Kiyoomi. What do I say?
"What was that brand of hand sanitizer you gave me?" He asks with a straight face.
"Eh? Uh, it's called Curell..." Michiko answers with confusion.
(A/n: please don't come at me for the name, it was all I could think of 💀)
"Curell... thank you. I really liked it."
"It's no problem," she sweatdrops, "is that all you need?"
"... what high school are you going to?"
"Inarizaki."
Sakusa's stoicism almost breaks as he feels a small arrow stab through his heart (A/n: but he doesn't understand why he feels that way💀). They both walk out of the school building.
"Why Inarizaki? Why not Itachiyama?"
"Well, my parents have to work abroad for a year, and they don't want me living in a dorm my first year, so they're having me stay with relatives in Hyōgō."
"... is it only for one year?"
"Yeah. When my parents come back, I think I might transfer to Itachiyama in my second year. But who knows, I might like Inarizaki so much that I'll stay."
Michiko notices Sakusa's quietness. She detected the smallest twinge of sadness in his dark eyes.
"But don't worry! Even if we don't go to the same high school, there's always a possibility of us meeting again! You play volleyball, right? Two of my cousins play too, and they're going to Inarizaki, so we might have a chance of seeing each other if you play against them."
"That's true."
"Yup! Anyways-"
"Michiko! We have to go drop you off at your Aunties!"
"Coming, Mom! Sorry again Sakusa-san! But just remember there's always a possibility of meeting each other again! I'll see ya whenever!"
Michiko waved off as she ran to her mother's car. Sakusa watched as they drove off. His expression on the outside poorly reflected what he was feeling on the inside. He felt a feeling of hope bubble up in his heart.
"Always a possibility, huh."
And before he knew it, a small smile slowly tugged at his face as he thought about meeting the short girl again. Cute. Wait, what?
