Michiko was surprised. What is this? Some sort of shoujo romance manga? The tall ace laying beneath her really liked her since middle school. The small girl shot her head up to look at Sakusa.
"Are you serious?" She asked.
"... yes..."
She sat up glaring down at him, "Why didn't you tell me?!"
"..." He shut his eyes.
"Oi! Don't ignore me-"
Sakusa cut the small girl off by pulling her down into his chest. Michiko huffed in annoyance.
"It's too early for yelling Shortie," he groaned.
"But why didn't you tell me then?" She squeaked out.
"... I was, but you were going to leave."
"Oh..."
"..."
"You still should've told me though," Michiko crossed her arms and pouted.
Sakusa chuckled at how childish she was being. But what would've happened had he told her back in middle school? He shook his head knowing that it didn't matter anymore, but he couldn't help but wonder as he thought back to when he almost confessed.
Sakusa was internally kicking himself for asking what kind of brand of hand sanitizer the shorter girl used. He felt the need to go to her but didn't know why. Perhaps this was the perfect time to confess? But he has to ease into he thought. Sakusa didn't want to just blurt it out.
"... what high school are you going to?" He hoped she was going to Itachiyama.
"Inarizaki," she answered.
It was like a bolt of lightning struck him. He forgot he wasn't wearing his mask as he freely expressed the scowl tugging at his lips. The shorter girl standing in front of him had a somewhat nervous look.
Jeesh, he really didn't know how to express his emotions that well back then as he recounted the memory. Sakusa remembered the unpleasant feeling in his chest when Michiko told him she was leaving. It was like someone was took something precious from him. But the small girl somehow relieved him of his internal grieving.
The tall ace smiled at how cheery and positive Michiko was then. She reassured him that they weren't going to be separated forever. Always a possibility huh? He chuckled making the small girl glance up at him. Now, look at the two laying in each other's arms. Who would've thought?
"What's so funny?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing," he sighed with a smile.
"... yer weird," Michiko playfully narrowed her eyes.
The tall ace flicked her forehead making the small girl glare up at him.
"I almost forgot that you said you were staying in Hyōgō for only a year..." he trailed off again.
