Clutching Damien to my chest as I felt familiar darkness begin to consume me.  He hadn't moved in what felt like hours.  Claude hasn't showed up yet.  Whatever Maggie had been doing must have worked so far.

A soft knock at the door. Shaking me back into focus.  They didn't open the door.  Gently moving Damien's stiff body of of my lap.  My feet felt like they were held down by cinder blocks as I gazed down at the man who once was filled with life, laughter.  I took that from him.

Whoever was behind the door was human, there slow steady heart beat making my mouth water.

Cracking the door open a man, not much older than Damien stood politely.  Has dazed and seemed to be far away.  Maggie must have sent him.

"I'm here to feed you and your friend" Speaking numbly, robotic.

Two of us....

Scanning behind the bearded man, greying hair scattered through his buzz cut.  There wasn't a soul or another vampire in sight.

Choking back a cry. "It'll be just me" Biting back the sob that desperately wanted to be released. Shifting my gaze to my feet, unable to meet the stone cold stare from the unknown man.

"Then who's that?" Asking completely uninterested.

Looking up to see his gaze looking behind me.  Stilling my body.  He must be able to see Damien's lifeless body on the floor.

"None of your concern.  He's-" My arms falling to my sides.  Knees buckling from the crushing sorrow.

My body nearly falling to the floor.

But something caught me, a cold grip snaking my waist.

"Whaaa?" Sputtering out spinning around.

His cool mouth went to my neck as he pulled me to my feet, my frantic arms clung to his standing strong frame.

"Damien?" Crying out.  Searching his perfect features, Gripping his face in my fingers. Those amber eyes gazing down at me, the same shade but brighter.

"My Victoria" Purring in my ear.

Jumping in his arms.  His arms catching me with ease, his free hand yanking the man inside and pushing him to the side before pushing my back against the door, closing it far too loud.  Looping my arms around his neck, burrowing my face in his chest.  Locking my legs around his waist.

I would never let him go.

"I-I thought I killed y-"

"You saved me" His deep silky voice cutting me off.

Taking in his face.  Was I dreaming? Was he really here? It worked?  "I'm never letting go" Whimpering in his hold.

Backing our bodies away from the door, his strong hold never weakening, I watched his bob up and down swallowing harshly.

"My throat- It's burning" Choking out.  His eyes now locking on the unmoving man who stood at the wall.  Eyes unfazed by our embrace. Dead eyes staring off in space.

"You need to drink" Unlocking my legs.  But his arms keeping me from touching the floor.  Unhooking my arms from his neck, placing my hands on his cool biceps.  No warmth, but now a closer temperature to mine.  We felt the same.

Forcing my body out of his grip, with more strength than I was use to using on him.  His hungry gaze now shifting between the man and my face.  Damien's fangs suddenly sprung out, glistening white.

Taking his hand in mine, his fingers inner locking with mine.

The man remained still as Damien and I moved to either side of him.  Damien watching me as I took the man's wrist with my free hand as too killers stood before him.
