"You did so well" Smiling beside Damien as we walked the snowy streets.

We spoke with William for hours before he closed the shop for the rest of the night.  Damien kept his composure whenever William came close or pulled him into a sudden hug.

"Easier than I thought it would be" Kicking the dusting of snow at the ground.

Twinkling lights strung up along the small businesses side by side.  Lighting our path, twinkling flakes.  Shrugging into my sweater as I inhaled the wet air.  Closing my eyes as the fresh snow stuck to my cheeks, slowly melting.

"You have more self control than most" Taking his hand in mine as we stepped in front of the bar where he had first followed me.

His eyes looked up to the sparking lights, the music vibrating through the door.

"Then why did I stalk you to this bar if I have so much self control" Laughing out as we paused, taking in the memories of that night.

Turning my body, craning my neck to meet his gaze. Taking the front of his black jacket in my hands. "I'm glad you did"

Standing on my toes "Otherwise it would have been me waiting every night at the book shop for you"

Molding my lips to his as he wrapped his arms around my back. Gasping out suddenly.

"What are you doing?!" Tossing my body over his shoulder.  Smacking his backend.

"I may not be able to dazzle or persuade you but I can return the favor of that first night" Chuckling deeply before bolting in the direction of my apartment.

Swatting my butt once, making me giggle as his feet sped up, leaving a dust of snow trailing behind us.

There was no sadness in me, no lingering despair or darkness in the back of my head.   All the pain from my past.  The hell we had been together, flipping our lives upside down had lead to this perfect moment.

Closing my eyes blissfully as he carried me away.  Unbothered and ready for anything that could come our way. Knowing we would make through the depths of despair,  the raging fires of hell; as long as we had each other.
