Damien and I emerged upstairs.  His eyes searching the entire area.

"Is she a-?"

"Vampire? Yes" Finishing his sentence.   "She is a friend.  You don't need to worry about her" Squeezing his hand softly as we walked into the kitchen. Margaret sat perched on the counter with a cocky smirk.

"Good evening you two, sleep well?" Her strawberry blonde hair curled perfectly, flecks of red shinning in the light above her.  Wearing a baby pink cashmere sweater, with her fitted black leggings.  She was the definition of prim and proper.  Thank heavens she never acted better than me.  I know she'd have my back if I ever needed her.

Damien and I nodded once as I kept my expression, but I could his heart beat faster.  His hands became warmer from embarrassment.

"I've bought you a few items Damien.  I apologize, I don't quite know what you like except for Victoria" Her soft words but underlining meaning now causing me to bite my lip from smiling.

Standing to her feet, her hands taking mine from Damien's.  "I must chat with Victoria, help yourself" Gesturing to the counter.  "I found some fresh clothes, I hope they fit"

He stalked away slowly. But rushed quickly when he noticed the family sized bag Doritos.

Looping her arm in mine as she guided me to the living room.  "What exactly is happening now?"

Plopping my bottom on her long extravagant couch, digging my palms into my eyes. "Claude found me"

Shaking her head softly.  "He think's you're his destined.  But he doesn't realize you must feel the same"

"Then he found Damien and I together.  I don't know what to do Maggie, I can't keep running like this"

Her eyes grew.  "How did he survive?" Her eyes glancing in Damien's direction.

Sitting up straight. "I will not let Claude take him from me" Looking at the back of Damien's head "He's stronger than you think"  Corner of my lips pulling up as I watched him bring water to his mouth.

"He knows what we are?"

Sighing as I leaned into the couch "Yes, I couldn't keep it from him"

"Claude won't stop until"

"I know! But what do I do?! I can't keep dragging Damien across the country in hopes that Claude gives up!" Hissing out in annoyance.

"Have you thought of changing him?

"What?" Snapping my neck to her.  "No.  I'm not taking his life Maggie!"

She placed a cool hand on knee.  "It was just a suggestion.  If you did, if both of you decided.  At least Damien would be capable of fighting him if he needed to"

"No.  My life was taken from me, I can't put Damien through that.  He's already mixed in my mess enough.  I can't turn him"

"It's just an option for you to think about.  And you know you can't stay here forever.  He knows you and I are close.  He will come if he's smart"

"Ha, might take him a bit if he lived" Laughing coldly.  "I left him wrapped in silver"

Standing up and kneeling in front of me.  "How the hell did you manage that?!" Her wide charcoal black eyes begging for answers.

"He brought them when he found Damien with me.  Damien helped me"  Pride for him filling my chest.  "It's possible he never made it out.  But I can't take the chance"

"I will stay tonight.  Then help you pack tomorrow and find somewhere to stay under the radar"

"Thank you Maggie"  Yanking her into a tight hug.
