Chapter 2

M:: mommy!!!! Mommy!!
A:: can someone get some water?
M:: Mommy common what's wrong wake up...
Soon after less than a minute Laili Banu came back to her senses (regained consciousness)
Laili:: Ayaaaaaaaaaaan Khaaaaaaan!!!!!! Am I dreaming? Can you please pinch me please pretty please?
Ayaan didn't know how to react whether to feel shy or embarrassed coz he saw young girls going crazy but a grown woman who was his mother's age behaving like this, but he gently pinched her arm. Laili gave the biggest smile as she was relieved it's not a dream and she stood on her feet. Ayaan looked at his sister giving her a look "where did you trap me?" His sister trying to make things normal and right away hugged Laili and greeted her.
Arshi:: Laili aunty Ayaan just came yesterday so I thought I will bring him with me I hope you don't mind
M:: oh no Arshi Di what are you saying mommy is so happy to have you all here
(Ofcourse Laili was still smiling so Meher had no choice but to answer)
Arshi:: Oh Ayaan this is Meher Laili Aunty's daughter
It was an awkward situation both of them didn't know how to greet each other should they shake hand or say hi or say Salam and out of nervousness Meher just couldn't say anything but she apologized for her mom's behavior and Ayaan who has a good sense of humor said
A:: this is the first time I've seen a daughter apologizing for their mother's behavior, so it's nice to meet you
(This kinda gave a little kick to Meher and she actually looked at Ayaan and her cheeks got little rosey)
M:: oh I'm sorry we didn't ask you all to come in, please come in
A:: I thought you'll never ask
Meher for the first time she was tongue tied, she just smiled and let them in. She never thought she was going to feel that way coz she has seen many celebrities infact she has gone to shows where she sat in front of all the Khans of Bollywood even met them backstage but never felt this way. She felt weird, it was awkward but she liked it. Ofcourse Ayaan got all the attention from everyone which he really didn't want because he really wanted a break and he didn't come all the way to America to face the same things. Meher was watching him and she could feel he is not comfortable so she felt she better help. She went and told her mom that Ayaan will never come back if people don't stop pestering him and ofcourse Laili always wanted a son in law like him, better to say Him not like him. Meher had no clue that she just put herself in trouble.
Laili:: Arrey Ayaan what are you doing here with the oldies I think you should hang out with the younger lot.
Ayaan:: Aunty I'm okay (he said it very irritatedly)
Laili:: don't worry Meher is here she will take you around. Meher why don't you show Ayaan around may be take him to the garden area

Meher tried telling her mom but her mom just didn't give her any chance to say anything and on the other hand Ayaan felt it's better to be with Meher than being with these crazy auntyjis.
A:: oh sure aunty ji, I would love to see your house, by the way you have a beautiful lovely house, okay Meher let's go, I'll follow you.
Meher just grabbed two random coats and gave one to him and took him to their garden. They definitely have a beautiful house, infact it's a mansion and it's beautiful. Ayaan followed Meher to the backyard, which was very beautifully decorated with lights and ornaments.
Meher was talking to herself (how dumb!! I was only feeling bad and look where am I?)
A:: sorry!!?? Are you talking to me? What did I do? Why are you calling me dumb?
M:: oh no I'm sorry I wasn't talking to you or about you, I was talking to myself. Actually I saw you sitting with all the aunties and felt you were getting bored so I told my mom to go and rescue you but I didn't know she would put me in trouble
A:: I'm sorry if you had to come here because of me
M:: no no I don't mean it that way please don't get me wrong (she facepalmed herself for blurting things out) I mean aahh I mean..
A:: don't worry I got you... but thanks I really needed to get some fresh air.
M:: no worries, I guess even I needed some fresh air
A:: your backyard looks beautiful, as if I'm in some winter wonderland...
M:: I love winter time, I love looking at the lights and decorations just makes me happy. Sometimes just small things can make people happy.
A:: you are lucky that you actually feel winter here but in Mumbai it hardly gets cold, I do miss Delhi during winter
M:: why?
A:: oh that's coz I'm originally from Delhi and it's quite different from Mumbai.
M:: oh ok!! Sorry I actually don't know much about you, neither I watch Indian TV shows but my mom is crazy about you and she loves all these dramas and soaps. She is always glued to the tv, so to spend time with her I end up watching some random shows random episodes with her.
A:: I can understand that, I grew up seeing my mom watching different shows and sometimes cursing some character as if he is her relative or some bad neighbor
M:: oh talk about cursing... I feel bad for the actors, my mom does extra prayers for the characters, last year Ramadan after she broke her fast she prayed for your well being as she heard you were not well.
A:: that's so sweet...
M:: so how long you are here for? Anything special or just vacation?
A:: just taking a break. Life has been too busy too stressful and I just started feeling suffocated. So what about you? What do you do I mean studying working?
M:: oh I have a boring life, I'm a banker and a financial analyst so I work with numbers and I come home and see all the craziness
A:: don't you hang out with friends.... boyfriend...?
M:: hahahahh yes yes I do have friends but most of them are busy as everyone is busy with their life some got married some busy with career so it's not like before. And no I don't have any boyfriend.
A:: don't want to have one or some kinda restriction? (Pause) sorry didn't mean to get personal
M:: don't worry, I don't mind. It's not that I didn't have a boyfriend, in fact had two boyfriends till now but I guess I've been very unlucky with boys and both of them cheated on me wasted 5 years of my life and now I'm too scared to even think of having a boyfriend, so last two years I've been single and I'm the happiest.
A:: true being single is the best thing to do
M:: oh I thought you were dating someone... I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound rude
A:: no worries!! We actually broke up. But please don't tell anyone coz we never confirmed our relationship in public....
M:: don't worry no one will get to know...
After walking around in the garden for sometime
M:: do you like video games?
A:: oh I love it but don't get much time
M:: would you like to play it now?
A:: now?
M:: come with me, my brothers are having their own thing going on in the basement, we still have one hour for midnight
She takes him to the gaming room where her brothers and some cousins were having too much fun, the moment Ayaan enters the room Meher's Brother Wali says
Wali:: oh wow Mr. Ayaan is here, man you have no clue that you have been a part of our family last so many years and ofcourse you don't know about it. (And he laughs but they all welcome him like any other normal person and not as some celebrity and he actually enjoyed the next one hour as he played video game after a long time that too with a fun group. It was almost midnight and everyone went to the hall to celebrate the New Year. Arshi asked him how is he feeling and he said he is fine and didn't mind staying for some more time. She was happy to see her brother feeling happy and comfortable. Ayaan suddenly felt lil jealous of this simple life style, he thought to himself that these people are rich they have everything but unlike him they have their privacy they have their freedom, no one is constantly watching them. His mom's words hit him hard as she said he will understand later why she insists on marrying a simple girl. He kinda felt that he already had a busy and crazy life and even if his partner is busy then there won't be any life and that's what happened between him and Simi... he just realized he really missed this simplicity... after the midnight there was music dance food.... people were happy they didn't care who wore what or who is a bigger star. Ofcourse when he came in everyone wanted to talk to him but after sometime everyone was treating him like a normal person and he didn't feel awkward anymore he didn't need to worry about his impression. After the party as they were leaving
Laili:: so Arshi what have you planned with your brother?
Arshi:: Aunty actually we didn't plan anything coz he just came suddenly so let's see what we can do
Laili:: why don't you guys come with us next week we are going winter camping .....
(The whole family was shocked because they were actually not going anywhere but it was Laili's sudden plan and the family just kept quiet eyeing each other that what their mother is saying)
Arshi:: wow that sounds nice (she didn't know what to say and she looked at Ayaan)
Laili:: Ayaan have you ever done skiing? It's actually lot of fun trust me you will have such good experience and ofcourse it's so beautiful and the nature just makes you feel so good. Arshi what do you think? It will be so much fun specially when a lot of people go together it's more fun.
Arshi:: Ayaan what do you say? You wanna try?
Ayaan:: Di I'm here on vacation I guess I'll do anything fun and I love nature so I think I'll give it a try.
Laili:: that's great!! I will get the details from my son Aziz and send it to you. Aziz!! Give me the details tomorrow okay (she was eyeing him signaling him)
Aziz:: oh okay yes Mommy!! I will confirm our booking tomorrow and give you details
Arshi:: oh it's not confirmed yet
Laili:: no no no!! We always leave it open in case they wanna bring their friends or something (she laughs shamelessly)
Arshi :: ok aunty will talk about the trip later. Thank you so much for having us we had so much fun
Laili:: it was our pleasure and I'm so happy you came.
A:: okay Meher see you!! Thank you for making me feel comfortable and helping me...
M:: your most welcome. Hope you enjoyed
A:: oh yes I did, may be come back to play some game
M:: oh sure thing
A:: take care
So next day Aziz books three cottages in the camp resort for 4 days and Laili happily gives the details.
Two days later in the mall::
Arshi was shopping with Ayaan and Meher was there to buy her new iPhone and she bumps into Arshi and Ayaan
M:: hey Arshi Di Assalamualaikum
Arshi:: WalaikumAssalam Meher how are you?
M:: I'm good, Hi Ayaan Assalamualaikum
A:: WalaikumAssalam!!! Is it you Meher? I mean you look so different today
She just laughed
M:: yea I know the other day I was wearing ethnic clothes and heavy make and jewelry
A:: but you are looking nice..
M:: thank you, actually I like being simple but my mom wants me to dress up all the time (she just laughs shyly at her own stupidity, she kept thinking why am I giving out so much information he didn't ask for it)
A:: Niceeeeeee !!! Oh I see you are shopping for iPhone
M:: oh yea just came to get the new one I preordered it so picked it up. Anyway it was nice to see you guys. Will see you for camping
Next day:: Arshi called Laili
Arshi:: aunty just wanted to ask if we need to bring anything with us for camping or anything please let us know
Laili:: no no beta, my boys will take care of that and we will be staying in the cottage and also in winter we don't need tents also. So how is Ayaan liking America, is he enjoying?
Arshi:: he is doing fine but ofcourse he is lonely because I also have so much to do and with two kids I'm not able to do much. Today some horror movie came in the theater and I hate horror movies and ofcourse my kids are too young for all that so he is upset.
Laili:: oh really? My Meher looooves horror movie she can go with Ayaan
Meher's eyes popped out the moment she heard her mom say that and she was giving her angry look but Laili Bano didn't care what she had to say
Arshi quickly asked Ayaan if he wants to go to the movie with Meher and he was fine with it.
Laili:: okay she will pick him up for the 7:30 show
After they hung up Meher was mad at her mother for doing this but deep down she didn't mind coz she did find Ayaan attractive and interesting too.
Meher wore a nice pair of jeans with knee length boots with a nice white coat. Very light make up and left her hair loose. She went to Arshi's place around 7pm and when Ayaan came out he was surprised with Meher's choice of car. She was driving Roadster Tesla and he loves sports car. Ayaan was super impressed with Meher now.
So they go to watch this horror movie and Meher loves horror movie but she even gets scared and in one scene she just grabbed Ayaan's hand so tight, he didn't want to make her feel awkward so he kept quiet till almost the end of the movie that's when she realized she held his hand all this time and she looked at Ayaan and the theater lights came on and she saw her imprints on his wrist and it seems she even dug her nails and he was quiet.
