Chapter 6

A:: hello
M:: hello Ayaan are you okay?
Ayaan wished she didn't ask that question his voice was choking his heart was hurting but he didn't know what to say, he didn't even know why he wanted to call her, out of everyone. He wondered why was he so sure that Meher won't judge him. Was this friendship or anything else?
A:: hmmm.. yea.. actually...
M:: you don't sound okay
A:: no I'm not
M:: I'm listening Ayaan
A:: Meher..... she left me..... (he said it in a broken voice)
M:: I'm so sorry Ayaan I wish I could give you a hug
( for the first time someone was sorry for him coz rest of the family never wanted him to be with her on top of that the trollers in last few months made his life hell)
A:: I don't know what to say I can't blame her and I can't forget coz I have tried. This just hurts because what she said was right, she has the right to be happy she has the right to choose for her future but in this case it was not only her future it was our future and then future of our kids, rest of the family. How can I blame her coz she was not wrong but it still hurts. We drifted apart few months back but today it hurts the most.
M:: you know it is the darkest before the sun rises, may be this was needed for a new beginning. Even she needed a closure just like you needed it. I know it hurts specially when you know you love each other but because of circumstances you can't be together it's painful. You know we humans are weird we cry about our future in our present ruining our present and then by the time we reach our future nothing happens that we thought will happen.
A:: how do you manage to say such deep things in such simple way?
M:: that's because life is very simple but we are the ones who makes it complicated. I understand your problem coz I've gone through that phase too but next day I thanked God for giving me the opportunity to go through the test of life. Today I am able to make life easy because I've seen the pain.
A:: is it only you or girls are generally very strong ?
M:: Mr. Khan you know what before we make a master piece we make a rough draft so God made men first like a rough draft then he made some changes and to make it a master piece and he then made woman
Ayaan laughed out loud
A:: you are funny but witty too. Sorry I even asked and look you put me in my place but I must say we as rough draft are pulling it well too. Aren't we?
M:: yea not bad for a rough draft...
A:: it's ur morning now don't you have work?
M:: I do but that's okay I'm working from home today
A:: lucky you!! For us when it's work time we have to be out and we hardly get a chance to use our phone. But if you are busy you can actually go
M:: did I bore you already?
A:: oh no not at all, in fact I'm feeling much better now.
M:: I'll tell you when I need to go
It was weird out of everyone Meher was giving Ayaan the comfort even he doesn't know why he didn't call his best friend or his sister or anyone else but he was happy talking to Meher but one thing he knew he won't be judged
That night Ayaan thought he might go to sleep crying but instead he slept with a smile. It's not that his pain became less but he was able to conquer his pain. Meher's simple philosophy of life really influenced him, he felt the pain every minute but he smiled knowing that he did have some good memories and he did create some good time with the person he loves before the pain hit him.
Things were getting back to normal everyone got busy Ayaan signed few projects, he was going to host a reality show and two web series, in between he loved getting Meher's expert advice as he says it. By now they have become very good friends and just like Ayaan said Meher was like his male friends she did become one of them. He was just comfortable talking about anything and everything without any filter she even understood his jokes that other girls didn't understand.
It was beginning of March Arshi called Ayaan to check on her brother and somehow he couldn't stop talking about Meher and how she helped him deal with the situation and once again Arshi asked him the same question coz she felt he was getting older and he is lonely as their parents weren't ready to move and also they can't adjust with Ayaan's life style now and he really needed a partner a reason to come back home.
A:: Di I don't know what to say, I won't say that I'm not lonely and I won't say that Meher doesn't make me happy but I still have a strong feeling for Simi.
Arshi:: Ayaan but you tried with Simi you wanted a second chance but you know what happened and I respect Simi for being honest and not keeping you hanging. But when you were broken it was Meher who supported you with no other intentions, she did it out of friendship and she is a person who does things without any condition and the whole family is like that.
A:: but Di it has to be from both sides, we don't even know what she feels for me and even I don't love her but yes if I have to move on without Simi then I would definitely feel comfortable with Meher because she knows me understands me and also knows about my past.
Arshi:: That's all I needed to know, look at me and your Jiju even we had arranged marriage but look at us MashaAllah we are very happy and we love each other. At least you already know Meher and she knows you, her family is looking for a suitable boy and she has no problem with arranged marriage I'm sure she would consider you before anyone else as she knows you too. All I want to know if you are ready to give yourself a second chance also they are going to India next week for the wedding, if you get some time may be you can visit them and get to know her more. By the way Ammi already loves her
A:: what? How does Ammi love her?
Arshi:: Ayaan you are the one who told her about Meher and everyone, not only that twice she found her phone busy and you said you were talking to her so she put 2 into 2 and asked me about her so I told her what a lovely girl she is.
A:: you guys are mad or what? How can you just plan things without even knowing how the other parties feel specially the parties who has to live their whole life together.
Arshi:: Ayaan please time to move on at least you know her she is nice and if you didn't love Simi then wouldn't you marry Meher? Simi is not coming back so move on get married make a family you will have someone waiting for you who will fulfill all those dreams you've been thinking of.. now tell me can I go on with the proposal?
A:: if you think that's right and if you think everyone is happy then I guess I'm okay
After that day Arshi's mission was to find out about Meher, so at first she talked to Nusrat Meher's Bhabi and she said they were looking for a suitable boy and if she doesn't mind then the family won't have issues. Arshi said it's better they don't say anything to Meher now it's better she goes to India and let her see Ayaan's life style let her meet their parents and then they can ask and if she is ready then they would love to have Meher as Ayaan's wife. Meher's family was very happy because they loved Ayaan and on the other side Arshi told Ayaan that Meher does not know anything till she meets everyone and knows him better so this way they won't have any kind of drift in their friendship incase things don't work out. Meanwhile Ayaan's family was already talking to Meher's family and they were all invited for the wedding and on the other side Meher had no clue what was going on she was just loving a normal life, she was enjoying Ayaan's friendship and found him attractive, cute, friendly, likable rather lovable and hot. But she was happy being friends with him without any strings attached.
It was the day before their flight to India Ayaan called Meher asking how's the preparation and how's everyone doing and very excitedly she said that she spoke to his parents as her mom recently became friends with his parents and she was just happy to see how people can bond so easily and it was nice talking to his mom and his mom was very sweet praised her so much so she was happy to hear praises. Ayaan asked if she didn't find it weird for her parents to get friendly with his parents but she very innocently said no coz her mom makes friends everywhere she even calls her neighbors mom in Pakistan just to check on them. Ayaan literally facepalmed himself and thought of he actually gets married then he doesn't know how to deal with such innocence that he is not used to but he didn't want to give a shock her to her he didn't want her to feel cheated that no one told her and suddenly everyone is there and asking her to accept the proposal, he felt that won't be fair but he just didn't know how to say it.
A:: so when you come here would you like to hang out with me?
M:: ofcourse till the wedding we will be very busy but after that I would love to hang out. Aren't you going to come for the wedding?
A:: I will try my best to come for all the functions and how can I not come after all my friend's brother is getting married. Even if I have work I will make sure I come also I have no choice because your mommy invited my Ammi and she was waiting to come here and now she is all excited to atten the wedding. Don't you find it weird that some strangers are excited to attend your brothers wedding?
M:: your parents are not strangers and we know Arshi di it's been a while now and now my mom is also friends with your mom
Ayaan again facepalmed himself coz he was trying to give her hints and she innocently kept thinking everything was normal but he couldn't even say he loves her and wants to marry her coz he didn't love her but he was ready to move on and felt they could have a good future together.
A::so how's your family's hunt for a suitable going on? How many boys did you meet
M:: I only met one guy till now but that's not happening
A:: why?
M:: big show off so I came home and yelled at my mom, but it seems they found someone in India in fact something funny, okay now I know why my mom got so friendly with your mom
Ayaan felt little relieved that may be she will figure it out on her own and she won't be shocked and also he doesn't want to ruin this friendship he doesn't want her to blame him that he being a friend didn't tell her or ask her.
M:: you know my mom told your sister and then your sister told her mom and your mom told my mom that she knows someone really nice and would love for them to meet him and the family
A:: so you know anything about that guy?
M:: do you think you know the guy your parents are talking about?
A:: I know many guys who my parents know but I need to know which one they are talking about
M:: ooooo!! That means she has quite a few lined up hmmm 🤔 wow this is exciting just like Indian serials I'm going to see boys
By now Ayaan was done he couldn't handle this anymore, he wondered how come it never came to her mind that it could be him too? He felt bad that she trusts him so much and he has been hiding that their families are trying to fix their marriage.
A:: Meher, if I say i know the guy
M:: seriously? Why didn't you tell me? All this time I wasn't taking it seriously. If you know him too that means it's a serious matter and I think I should know about it and I do expect that from you as a friend.
Meher suddenly became very serious, she sounded little upset that being her friend he didn't feel it was necessary to inform her or say anything to her. This was the first time in 3 months Ayaan saw Meher get upset and she had the right too.
A:: Meher I'm really sorry I didn't mean to hurt you or your feeling but it's not my fault it was Arshi Di who felt it's better you meet everyone and then they will ask you so you are not conscious or uncomfortable through out the whole trip
M:: are you being honest
A:: I promise
M:: so you know the guy?
A:: yea
M:: who is he?
A:: Me!
M:: Ayaan are you going to say anything or just say me? Wait? What? Did you just say me?
A:: yes I said me
M:: are you serious?
A:: yes I'm serious
M:: I really don't know what to say..... I just know one thing that you don't love me and I also know about your past. So how come suddenly you thought of this?
A:: I didn't think about all this but Arshi Di did
M:: so you want to marry me because your sister wants you to?
A:: no not at all, Meher it's not the way you are thinking, you know my past and I know yours we both understand each other enjoy each other's company and also we both are single and our families seems to like each other and don't you think it's better to marry a friend than a complete stranger? Trust me in the beginning when Arshi Di asked me I reacted the same way but I felt I rather marry a friend who I already respect and look up to with whom I can be myself may be we can have a better future.
M:: Ayaan I just don't know how to react! The whole idea need to sink in first. I'm not denying that marrying a friend is better than marrying a stranger but this just sounds weird or awkward I don't know which word to use.
A:: Meher please don't stress my friendship with you is more precious than all this.
M:: Ayaan I'm not worried about anything I will always be your friend but my question is if you marry me then all I will ask you to do is forget your past so you think you can do that?
A:: If I ask you as a friend, won't you help me to forget my past?
M:: I know it will be hard for you to love me but how can I be sure in future you will love me? Because as a wife I will also expect my husband to love me, have me in his heart?
A:: Meher we both know we don't love each other but just imagine you get married to some random guy whose past you don't know but you would still marry him right?
You know my past and you also know she is gone so may be we both can know each other little bit more and may be we both will find love in each other. Meher I'm not going to force you I just didn't want you to get a shock of your life so I felt I should let you know but it's up to you whatever you decide.
Meher in an arranged marriage people get married first and then fall in love atleast we are friends.
M:: Ayaan I just want you to tell me honestly that you are not forced. Your family is not forcing you or anything? Because I am ready to marry a stranger who is willing to marry me without any pressure but not someone who is being forced because then it's only a compromise and sacrifice from the other side and I'm not ready to sacrifice or compromise
A:: Meher, I won't lie to you and tell you that I'm in love with you that's why I want to marry you. But I can assure you that I am in my senses and I really like you respect you, I look up to you and I said yes to Arshi Di willingly I was not forced and I promise you that. You are a beautiful person inside out and if I didn't have a past and I met you I think by now I would be head over heals for you

Hearing this Meher just blushed a little and she thanked God that they were not video calling.
A:: Meher do you think you want to give our relationship a chance? Meher do you think you would want to marry me?
