Unfaithful

Chapter 22

Meher left that afternoon leaving Ayaan devastated but life was not going to be easy for him.
Ayaan still has to face the hard part, he catches the next flight to Delhi and reaches there at night. As Amina Bi also came with his parents as Rubina still needed help to do chores at home and Ayaan has people in his house.
Amina Bi opened the door
Amina:: Ayaan Baba!!! You are here, (screaming) Khala jaan Ayaan baba Ayaan Baba is here...... baba where is Meher BiBi? Baba why aren't you saying anything?
By now Rubina came out to see what's the commotion all about and his father came after, she saw Ayaan and ofcourse she asked the same question that what is he doing there and where is Meher. But seeing Ayaan's face she knew something is not right.
Rubina:: Ayaan, come inside

She held his hand and took him to her room, he looked drained, his eyes were puffy and red. His dad came behind them wondering what is the matter? Ayaan has become like a zombie now, he looks as if someone took the soul out of him, his mom made him sit.
Abbu:: Ayaan Beta what's wrong what happened? Where is Meher, is she okay? Rubina why are you quiet what happened?
Rubina: (very softly she asked) Ayaan...... she left you right?
Ayaan looked at his mom with his eyes filled with tears and he just held his mom close to him and cried. He was howling, he was cursing himself, his dad couldn't understand what happened.
Abbu:: who left?
A:: Ammi I know I messed up I know I am the worst son, worst husband and the worst father. I lost everything today, she left me, she left me Ammi. (Crying) I tried I swear I tried but I know I was late, I was so late that I couldn't even prove that I was not lying.
Abbu:: can someone tell me what happened?

Ayaan trying to get hold of himself
A:: Abby Meher left
Abbu:: what? Left? Where why?
A:: Abbu last time she went to America because she found out I was cheating on her.
Abbu:: what?
A:: then when Ammi had the heart attack I asked her to come and pretend that everything is fine. To save my mother she came back and I treated her so badly. She was doing me a favor but I was still being mean to her. The day she had the fall she was actually leaving the house because of my behavior. She knew everything about my affair, I taunted her when she hid and cried, I humiliated her but she still didn't give up on me. She did everything I wanted her to do and I took her granted. I thought now I'm being nice to her so she will stay forever. She told me she can't trust me, she thinks asking her to stay back is a decision I took because I'm lonely and I know she is pregnant with my child. But Abbu believe me I really want her back I want to live with her not because she is going to be my child's mother or because I realized I don't love Simi or anything other reason I want to be with her because I really love her. I love her so much and even I didn't know I feel so strongly for her. I don't know how to prove it to her. I tortured her so much that I don't even know how to forgive myself.
Rubina was weeping and cursing herself
Rubina:: I should be guilty for everything, because of me you asked her to come, even after knowing everything she pretended that everything was good. The mental stress she must've gone through specially when she is pregnant.
A:: Ammi is not your fault you got sick or you wanted your daughter in law close to you
Rubina/: no Ayaan it is my fault because I knew everything
Abbu:: what you knew everything but you made her come purposely? How could you do that being a woman? Did you forget you have a daughter too your daughter has a daughter too. Can you think of doing this to them, are you going to send them to their husband when you know they will be tortured? Rubina I don't know what to say I'm feeling so helplessly ashamed... Her parents knows about all this?
A:: yes
Abbu:: and they still let her come
A:: because Ammi was in the hospital and also they didn't want to stop Meher as she was already pregnant, they didn't want to stress her more they just wanted her to be happy with whatever she wanted to do. In fact Arshi Di didn't want her to come but she still came.
Abbu:: and you did what? Tortured her like this.... how am I going to show my face to her parents. I've spoken to them so many times not even once they uttered anything, yes I did feel little indifference they tried to cut short the conversation everytime. Rubina you knew everything and still you wanted her to come, why?
