3rd person POV.

The Romanoffs stand separated for the first time in ages.

One free, one caged.

Both burdened by feelings.

Natasha mourns the loss of her daughter.

Alina mourns the loss of her mother.

'I miss my Sunshine,' Natasha thought to herself.

'I miss my Mama Shadow,' Alina thought to herself in a distant realm.

Sleep has become nonexistent for the two.

Whenever Alina closes her eyes, she sees red.

Whenever Natasha closes her eyes, she sees blue.

They see the other's colors.

They see the past memories they share.

They're stuck in a loop of memories.

Building walls so that they don't get hurt again.

They would do anything to see each other again.

Die, live, slave away over something trivial.

As long as they're together.

Together, they're a force of nature.

Fighting back to back, movements synced.

Natasha stands outside in rainy New York City.

'I hear you. I know you're sad.' The woman thought.

'I miss her so much! Why couldn't I have done better? Why couldn't I have put an end to Thanos?'  Her daughter thought, a universe away.

Since the snap, Natasha has always loved being around water. Rain, oceans, rivers, lakes, any body of water.

What her friends don't know is that it's the only way she can see her daughter.

She says that she's going to work at the Romanoff Foundation; half the time she does.

Her friends pass it off as grief.

It's all that and more.

Alina just sits in her makeshift room.

She locks the door and closes her eyes for the first time in weeks.

She stays in her room for weeks, only talking to her younger brother.

She spends her days staring at the discarded suit across the room.

The one she wore when she died.

The one that she designed herself.

The one she modeled after her mother's.

Natasha walks away from the river, finally numb to the pain.

Her wall is complete once again.

Alina puts the suit in a box and shoves it underneath her bed, proud of the fact that she's finally numb to the pain.

Her wall is complete once again.

Their walls are complete.

The two Romanoffs are just faded souls of the people they once were.

The people who they were together.

Nearly three years before, they became a package deal.

You wanted Alina, you got Natasha too.

You wanted Natasha, you got Alina too.

Natasha and Alina.

Their origins the same.

The Red Room.

The Avengers.

Family.

Love.

Pain.

Loss.

Death.

The Romanoffs are strong.

They're smart, brave, powerful.

But before all, they're family.
