"Its been weeks Regulus. Something's wrong. I know you've been trying to avoid talking about this but it's happening. I'm going into town to look again for a letter, maybe he'll have wrote by now." Gracie had been standing outside my door begging me to come out.
I didn't leave my room the entire time she was gone, but a few hours later I hear the door slam shut.
"Regulus get your lazy arse out here! Or I swear I'll break down that door!" She yells, banging on my door.
I sigh and roll off of my bed. I open the door a very wet and angry Gracelyn. She pushes her way past me and stands in the middle of the room, "Look I get it, you aren't happy. Neither am I! He's not only your friend."
I stand there quietly as she shakes her head, "Say something! Anyhting at this point would be welcomed! Reg I haven't heard you talk more than a few words in days. Clearly something is wrong with you, so just tell me and maybe I can help."
"You can't help with this. I'm sorry that I've been weird lately, something happened and I just need to figure out what it means." I mutter.
"Oh hell no. Don't you dare lock me out of this again. You don't get to just leave me alone during this!" She cries, "Merlin, you've locked yourself away from me! And I don't know how to help. Let me help you, because I'm so bloody scared of what is happening and I'm starting to go insane here! So just let me help you!"
"You can't help with this!" I snap, "This is beyond your control! Frankly it's past mine!"
"Just tell me." Her voice steadies.
I tap my foot on the ground and cross my arms. "My dark mark started burning the other day."
Her head tilts a little bit, "I'm sorry? What does that mean?"
"It means he was summoning me. But he's not dumb, he knows it won't do anything. There's got to be something else behind it." I sit back down on my bed heavily and hold my head in my hands.
"When did this happen?"
"Two weeks ago."
"Why didn't you say anything? We could have figured it out together." She whispers, sitting next to me.
I shake my head, "Like I said you couldn't have done anything to help. Its my burden to carry."
She throws her hands up, "Have you ever listened to me? I mean Merlin, you would think some of my words would get through that thick skull of yours."
She taps the side of my head and I push her hand aside with a small smile.
"And there it is... there's that smile I know and love."
"I'm sorry, I know I've been unfair lately." I mutter, glancing at her.
"You haven't exactly been unfair. But tell me what's wrong in the future okay?"
"Okay."
She grabs my hand and holds it close to her, "We're stuck here together. And if one of us is in trouble, we help. That's how we'll do things."
"Anything from town?" I ask changing the subject.
She sighs and shakes her head, "Nothing. I'll keep checking but I know something happened. With your mark and letters..."
She goes quiet as we avoid each other's eyes. We both know what could have happened. We both dread it, but we know.
Lucas has said if he didn't write within a week expect the worse, and I suppose now we are.
"If Bellatrix even thought about him, I swear I'll kill her." I snarl
Gracie nods, "I'll help you. That horrible woman has taken too much from us."
