Sirius whips around. His eyes wide and James' face is as white as a sheet.
"And our brothers? You really are just as bad as Mum says. Oh and don't worry I won't tell her about Emma, she has you to deal with." I say, hurt laced through my voice.
"Regulus," Sirius says looking at me like I'm a wounded animal.
"No I get it, I've never been your brother. Ive just been another family member, one that hates people like you. And you know what? You're right. I've never been like you, I swear I never will be." I say anger surging through me.
Sirius just stares at me, "You know you're right? I've had a closer connection with my brothers in 2 years than you in 11! And it's your fault, so don't go pitting yourself because you are the one who ruined all of it. Do you know how happy I've been here, at Hogwarts?" He asks but when I don't answer he keeps going, "I've been happy because you weren't here, to hurt me over and over. Because this is the one place I've ever felt safe!"
As he finishes his voice cracks as he's on the verge of tears. James walks up behind him and grabs his shoulder, whispering to him. Sirius wipes his face and nods at something his friend says. James pulls Sirius away to the great hall.
"Goodbye Regulus." James snarls out of the corner of his mouth.
I sit there frozen, I can't move. I gasp for breath, I'm drowning again and this time no one will help me. I turn and see the door close behind James and Sirius. My knees buckle from under me. Suddenly tears are streaming down my face. It's true we aren't brothers, just family. We barely know each other. Even James knows him better than I do, I mean they were just out here fighting and now they are supporting each other.
I sit there for what seems like forever, with tears falling and me gasping for breath. Someone walks around the corner and rushing towards me . I look up and see Gracelyn kneeling in front of me. I try to hide my face from her but she leans forward and hugs me. At first I tense up but once she starts rubbing circles on my back I relax and cry into her shoulder.
"It's okay, let it out.", she whispers into my ear.
We sit like this till I stop crying, then she moves back and looks at me, "Are you okay?"
I nod wiping my eyes, "I'm alright, thank you."
She smiles, "It's no problem, do you want to talk about it?"
I avoid her eyes, "I would like to yeah but not here. No offense but according to my reputation I can't be seen with a mud—muggle born."
She laughed, "Trust me I understand about reputations. Well if you don't want to talk about it here, where else would we go?"
I think about and suddenly I get an idea on where we can go, "The room of Requirements! We can go there. Want to meet tonight?"
Her eyes go wide, "I'm down but what is it?"
"The Room of Requirements allows the person seeking it to see anything they would like to. Such as if we want to hide something—"
"Like you did last night with Sirius." She said flatly.
I flinch and nod, "Yeah like with him. It will show a room of hidden things. And what we need is a private place to talk so it would bring us some place quiet."
She nods and someone calls for her. She turns and sees Elspeth standing there. She smiles at me and whispers, "See you tonight then!"
She gets up and walks towards Elspeth and they walk back into the great hall, hand in hand. Elspeth is whispering stuff to Gracelyn and suddenly Gracelyn stops and looks back at me with a look of pain on her face. then she rushes into the great hall after Elspeth. As she opens the door I hear shouting from inside. Specifically Severus and Avery yelling. I quickly get up and run over to the great hall door. As I open it, Gracelyn has put a protecting charm between James and his lot and Severus and them.
"What's wrong with you?" yells Elspeth, "It hasn't even been a day and here you are going at it already again!"
I walk over to where Severus is standing. I stand next to him and draw out my wand, "What happened out there? It took you a while."
"Yeah sorry the girl walked away and I followed her." I said glancing at Gracelyn who was hexing Sirius, probably for something he said.
"Hm!" grunted Avery, "Long walk wouldn't you say?"
I look at him out of the corner of my eye and see him walk up right next to me, "Sorry I got lost."
Avery snorted and yelled at Sirius, "OI! HOW ABOUT YOU SHUT UP?"
Sirius whipped his head toward him and glared. suddenly a hex was shot at us and I ducked to avoid it. I looked over and saw an angry Gracelyn storming towards us. As much as I would like to hide under the table right now, I can't Severus is pushed up to my right side and Avery my left. Mulcibur is somewhere behind me. Gracelyn is shaking her head and shoots another hex at us. Its going for Avery but he pushes me into its path. I try to get out of the way but it hits me square in the chest. my mouth snaps shut and I can't open it. As he is holding back laughter, Severus mutters the countercurse and my jaw goes slack. I rub my jaw and raise my wand. But just as I do the professor who had the hat last night showed up.
"What is going on here?" she asks looking around the room.
Everybody in the room goes silent and looks down. Severus backs away as do Avery and Mulcibur. Sadly for them, the professor saw them, "Oh no, don't you try to get out of this! I've seen all of you!"
"Professor there are people here who have nothing to do with this. It's just me, James, Sirius, Severus, Avery, and Mulcibur," says Elspeth.
"No me, Remus, Peter, and Regulus are in this too!", Gracelyn says standing besides Elspeth.
The Professor looks around the hall, "All of you are to report to the Head of your houses to find out when your punishment shall be!"
The Professor turns and leaves motioning for Sirius an the rest of the his lot to follow. They get up quickly still glaring at us but follow her and Elspeth is shaking her head muttering.
