Vocal Coach ~ Baekhyun & Sungchan(NCT)

Chapter 2

My second vocal lesson with Baekhyun has come. I am so excited, less nervous than I was last time. I get on the Zoom call, and then let into the call by the manager. Baekhyun waves hello to me and I wave back. He's so adorable, it makes me wonder how this man is already 28. It's just hitting me that he has to enlist by May, his 29th birthday, and this is probably one of the last activities he's doing before leaving. Ah, it's sad to think about, but it's reality. I try not to think about that, and focus on nailing my vocal lesson with Bakehyun today. The song I wanted to use to practice today is Love Me Harder by WOODZ. Honestly, I love that song, and I believe it will help me get to those high notes that I've always wanted to get to. When I told Baekhyun the song I want to use today, he was shocked.
"A- are you sure about that one?" Baekhyun asked.
"Yes, we could also do one of your songs. I quite like Ghost and Poppin'." I said.
"Ah~ yes. Let's go with my song." Baekhyun said.
"Okay, hmm. Let's do Poppin'." I said.
"Okay." Baekhyun said, pressing play on the instrumental for Poppin', and starts singing as if it were nothing.

I am always blown away by Baekhyun's vocals, if I haven't already mentioned that. I could listen to his voice all day, but we must finish this lesson. When Baekhyun finishes singing Poppin', he starts explaining how I should sing each verse. I just started studying Korean this year, but I don't remember everything, so he has to remind me, trying his best to translate. We go through the first verse, then into the chorus. Bakehyun applauds my good pronunciation of Korean as I'm singing his song. He is just proud of any foreigner who is able to sing a Korean song. He thinks it's endearing and incredibly impressive. When we finish going through Poppin', that was the end of our lesson. It was a bit shorter today because he has a tight schedule. I understand, and let him leave the call.

*Two Weeks Later*
I checked the mail and found that there is a package from Seoul, South Korea in the mailbox. Ah, this must be the EXO albums Baekhyun sent me. Wow, he actually sent them. That's crazy. I take the package home and open it on my desk where I usually have my class meets for school, do homework, study Korean, have vocal lessons with Baekhyun, etc. When I opened the box, inside was the EXO version, OBSESSION version, and X-EXO version of EXO's 6th album - Obsession. I can't believe I have these now because they have most sold out on every website I tried to find them on. For Baekhyun to just send these to me is so nice of him. Under the albums was a little hand-written note from Baekhyun. The note reads:
I hope you enjoy these Obsession albums. With love from your vocal coach, Baekhyun♡. He even signed it, verifying that it really was him who sent the package. The next time I see him, I'm gonna thank him.

I open my Obsession albums, not wanting to see the photo cards until the end. I look through the photo books and all the inclusions. There's even some posters that came unfolded, in packaged rolls. I have no idea where these posters are going to go because I literally have no more room on my walls in my room. Anyways, after looking through everything, I then revealed the photo cards to myself. In the EXO version, I got Baekhyun. In the X-EXO Version, I got Kai. In the OBSESSION version, I got Suho. Aww, I love these photo cards so much. They're so cute. It makes me wonder if Baekhyun planned this out, if he picked out which albums have my favorite members. He couldn't have known, because the albums were sealed and unopened. Hmm, maybe he didn't know. I'm definitely going to show him on our next call.

That next day, I had a vocal lesson with Baekhyun. Before we began, I just had to show him the photo cards I got with my EXO album. I put my Kai photo card in the back of my phone, so that it can always be on display. I took it out of my case, then got the other cards from my binder. I turn my camera back on and reveal the photo cards I got.
"Oh, wow!" Baekhyun exclaimed, clapping his hands happily.
"Your photo card is so cute." I said.
"Thank you." Baekhyun said.
"This Kai photo card, ugh, I love it." I said.
"Kai said he loves you too. Jongin-ah!" Baekhyun said, calling for Kai.
"Yeah? Oh, hi!" Kai said, waving.
My jaw drops, seeing Kai pop into frame, "Oh my God. I love you."
"I love you too." Kai said.
"Wow. You guys are a pair to be reckoned with. What visuals, dang." I said.
Kai and Baekhyun laugh along.
"It was nice seeing you. I must go now." Kai said.
"Okay, bye Kai." I said, waving goodbye to him.
"Okay, shall we get into the lesson now?" Baekhyun asked.
"Mhm, yes." I said.

Baekhyun and I have our lesson as usual. I'm so glad that I got to have this opportunity. Some fans are not as lucky as me. I try not to say anything in public or online about my vocal lessons with Baekhyun because one of the rules asked us to swear confidentially between the artist and ourselves. This makes sense because EXO need their privacy as much as the next person. We are not allowed to give out the code or password to the Zoom meet either. All these rules make it strict and less fun, but at least it keeps the idols safe. If anything does happen, like if anyone breaks the rules, then they're kicked off the Zoom meet and can never join another meet ever again. It's just as easy to get kicked out as it is to get in. That is why I want to be extra careful.
