Chapter 3

"For today's lesson, I thought we'd do something different." Bakehyun said, as the camera pans out to reveal he's in a practice room.
"Are we. . . Dancing?" I asked.
"Yes. Are you comfortable with it?" Baekhyun asked.
"I mean, I guess so. I can't dance though." I said.
"I was in the same boat as you as a trainee." Baekhyun said.
"Okay, let's just get it over with." I said.
Baekhyun giggles with excitement as he presses play on the EXO playlist. The first song to play is Telephone by EXO-SC. SC stands for Sehun and Chanyeol. This song is such a vibe and I love the choreography as well.

When we finish learning the choreography to Telephone, Baekhyun smiles as the next song starts playing: Ya Ya Ya. This song has such a 90's vibe to it. It probably speaks to Baekhyun's lil 90's-liner heart. There is not an official dance practice video or choreography for this song, but EXO's choreographer had made one up for them whenever they would perform it at concerts. Then, one of the best EXO songs comes up, CALL ME BABY. I literally love this song so much. It's a bop. Everything about this song is iconic, from the demo to the choreography. Just everything about this song is perfection.
"Hey, uh Baekhyun?" I asked.
"Yes?" Baekhyun asked, pausing the the.
"Is the crotch grab really necessary?" I asked.
"Yes, it's part of the choreography." Baekhyun said.
"Alright fine, but it's a little awkward since I'm a girl." I said.
"Okay, instead do this." Baekhyun said, changing the choreo so I don't have to do that one move.
"That's better, thanks." I said.

At this point, we've done 4 different songs, in the span of our 2-hour long Zoom call. Baekhyun asked for special permission to have an extra long Zoom call so that he can teach these choreographies. I am out of breath and almost running into things since the space I have is not that big. After learning one more song, Baekhyun and I call it a day. We were on call for about 3 and a half hours, which is way longer than we usually have our call. I guess Baekhyun has his way around the rules, sneaking around that hour and a half time limit. What a sly boy Baekhyun is. I can't wait for more secret calls like this one in the future.

The next few weeks, Baekhyun kept hitting at something that I didn't understand. He said since I was being such a good, respectful student to him, that something will be coming. I have no idea what he means, but I know whenever Bakehyun says something is coming, I know it's going to be good. When we get on that Zoom call that day, Baekhyun asked me if I received that envelope he sent from the SM Entertainment building. I hadn't checked the mail, but I told Baekhyun I'd hop back on the call once I've gotten the mail.

Baekhyun waits patiently for me to come back and it only takes about 5 minutes for me to run down and get the mail. I thumb through the usual spam mail and bills to find a single envelope on the bottom with an address written in Korean in the upper left corner and my name and address written big in the middle. I get back on the call as I see the envelope.
"그거 열어봐요." Baekhyun said(Open it)
"네." I said(Alright). I open the envelope is a first class, roundtrip ticket to South Korea, "WHAT?!"
Baekhyun giggles, "You're coming to Korea to meet me in person."
"When?" I asked.
"Your spring break from school." Baekhyun said, "It says on there."
"Departure date: April 3, 2021. Arrival date: April 3, 2021 at 5:00AM." I said, reading the ticket.
"Right." Baekhyun said.
"Wow, you really shouldn't have, Bacon." I said.
"I really want to meet you in person." Baekhyun said.
"Alright, alright. So, what you're saying is that you're flying me, or SM is flying me to Seoul so I can go and meet you over spring break?" I asked.
"Yes." Baekhyun said.
"Okay, I'll need to get permission from my parents before I do any of this." I said.
"It's no problem. You have time." Baekhyun said.
"Okay." I said.

As I prepared myself to finish up my midterms and all that for school before spring break, I will also need to look forward to my one-week trip to South Korea, meeting Baekhyun. A lot of stuff is going to be happening in the next few months, and I don't think I'm ready. The stress of my midterms are only relieved by the Zoom calls with Baekhyun, but then, I'll also be meeting him in person during spring break. I am not prepared for this at all. My parents also have no idea I've been doing this with Baekhyun, even though they may have a good idea of what's happening. I'm speaking to a Korean man, 11 years older than me, who might be a predator is all they assume. Poor Baekhyun would never be accused of that because he's so sweet and respects women. He would never do an act that is in any way predatory. I believe if my parents can speak to Baekhyun during one of our calls, they'll believe he's a nice, sincere, and respectful boy.
