C H A P T E R 16

It was Xander's 21st birthday,the day he has been dreading.Since he was 18 he has had his mark but if he didn't find his soulmate and profess his love for them and they do the same he would die.That morning he woke up in pain but he didn't want to wake her up.When she woke up she saw he didn't look like his normal self.She then said his name a few times.She didn't want to freak out so she went to go take a shower.When she came out she tried again.Except this time he responded,she figured he was tired. "Well I was going to surprise you but I am getting my hair done today the way you like it". Xander was in too much pain to reply but he just smiled. "Um I'm going to be a few hours but try not to do anything and I will call you out of your meetings.If you still are like this when I get back.Also you are going to see the doctor alright.You also need to tell me when your birthday is.And no you can't keep saying soon". He shook his head and she left.He looked down at his arms and his veins were black.He went to the bathroom and he did not look himself.Almost as if he was dead.His skin was pale,his skin was slowly caving in,and his veins on his neck were turning black.He tried to walk back to his bed but he stopped when he got a pain in his chest.He collapsed onto the floor.He couldn't even reach his phone to call for help.

A few hours past and Athena was heading back to Xander's room.She was expecting Xander in his bed looking normal and happy but what she saw instead was the opposite.She opened the door and saw Xander on the floor uncautious.She quickly ran to him.She saw even more of his veins fill with darkness.She cried for help as loud as she could.She couldn't lose him.She just couldn't.Charles came.He gasped at the sight.Luckily his parents were passing by and he ran to tell them the news.He also went to go find some doctors.His parents came to his room.Both of them were heart broken.The queen fell to her knees crying.But the person who was the most upset was Athena.He was the love of her life.The doctors came and took him as fast as they could.She kept asking what was happening but no one would tell her.His parents told her it was his 21st birthday. "No it can't be he would have told me.I thought we had more time". "Well if he really loved you he wouldn't almost be dead but clearly he doesn't." The queen said coldly.After saying those words she instantly regretted it.She then thought maybe he didn't tell her to protect her.But she couldn't think of that,her son was dying right before everyone's eyes.Athena was hurt at those words.She walked away before the queen could say anything.She felt empty inside. There was nothing she could do.But she thought of the what ifs.Aswell as she started to blame herself after what happened.
