The Soulmate Mark

C H A P T E R 34

Athena and Nolan get back to their house for their engagement party.She puts on a white silk slip dress,white heels that are way too tall for her,white gloves,her engagement ring,and her hair up with curled pieces sticking out.She met Nolan.He wore a white button up that was open slightly.This was her dream when she was young, but now that she has felt real love she knew this was not right.They walked out to the party.She was uncomfortable.After a while she snook out to the balcony to look at Gantrick.She wondered what was going on over there.

The scene now pans back to Gantrick briefly*

Xander is in his room, taking off his tie and jacket and anger.Renee walks into his room. "What's wrong baby? ". He looks out the window to look at Asterin."Why are you talking like that.And what do you think? ".He said turning his head towards her. "Listen, maybe with Athena gone you and I could be-" "What together.Are you crazy.You know my heart belongs to Athena". "No, it doesn't. That mark is making you think that."She tries to get close to him. "No!" He pushes her away and heads for the door. "She isn't worth it". Renee said.

The scene pans back to Asterin*

Athena then sits on a chair because her feet hurt.Nolan goes over to her. "Athena get up.People want to see us together." He said through gritted teeth. She didn't want to hear his voice nor see him after everything that has happened. "I don't care.Leave me alone."He grabbed her wrist and forced her to stand.She pushed him off and goes back out to the balcony.She felt a cold breeze go up her back.She then saw a hand on her shoulder.She turned around quickly to see Nolan. "What do you want?".  "What do I want-."He stopped in his tracks and lowered his voice.He gentley held Athena's hand. "Listen.Athena I do actually love you.I am sorry I put you through all of this,but you Xander are not meant to be." "Yes we are and you know it.You are just jealous." She said sounding hurt. "Who me jealous.Why would I be jealous of him".He said raising his tone. "No it's not like the girl I have loved my whole life just go off and want to marry this guy just because she has a stupid marking that tells her she should." "No Nolan.What we have is not love.What me and Xander have is." "Athena I just want what is best for you.Just think he is just some random mysterious guy from a place we do not know much about who just happenly stole you away from me and knocked you up right before we are supposed to be married.Do you not realize how ridiculous that sounds.And you call that love Athena.When I have loved you my whole life and still do." "Nolan you never loved me.You just used me because I was pretty.You just wanted to be seen with me.Yes I did love you at one point but that was before your ego got too big." "Athena you just don't understand."Nolan starts to back Athena into the edge of balcony. "Nolan I will marry you only if it's the real you.None of this bullshit.I want the old you." "Athena the old me was weak and did not have the nerve to talk to the girl he liked."His eyes started to flash a dark green like Oryn's. "Nolan no.I will marry you tomorrow. Just promise me you will be your old self.Because I love the real you.And I never thought you were weak." His eyes softened and went back to its old self.

It was finally the day of the wedding.The  wedding that she didn't really want.She was in her room getting ready. "You look beautiful sweetheart.I know this is not how you wanted things but everything will get better.Just see the twins before though." "Why". "Because children not born to your soulmate might possibly dissapear". "What those are my kids.They are the last piece I have left of Xander". "I know but we have to follow the rules". Her mother walked out of her room.She was more upset than before.Her whole plan changed.Her sisters walked in the room. "Hey sis". "Listen guys I have a plan to do something.If anything happens to me please take care of the twins.Can you two promise me that?" "Yes of course.What is your plan?" "I don't want to say but all I know is I don't want the twins there to see". "Okay then".The sun was almost setting.She went to see the twins one last time.It was finally time to marry her "soulmate".She looked down at her arm one last time to see Xander's mark about to be gone.She stroked it with her fingers one last time.

She refused to have her father walk her down the aisle so it was just her.She wished it was all a dream.She held her bouquet in her hands and her dagger tightly.Time felt like it was slowing down but also moving way too fast.A few people saw the dagger and did not think much of it.When she got up there Nolan looked like his old self.The self that would never even hurt a fly.She looked at him and she saw the kindness in his heart.He changed just for her.She felt grateful for that but she couldn't go through with all of this.Her thoughts rushed all over the place.He held her hand and rubbed his thumb on her hand just like old times.She loved Nolan.She did but her heart belonged to someone else.He said his vows and so did she.He said I do.But she froze.She looked around the room.Looking at the people for possibly the last time.She looked at the sun and back at the door to wait one last time for Xander.

She lifted up her dagger.Little did she know Xander was about to run into the room.She stabbed herself.Xander saw.He wanted to wait a minute to process that his world was destroyed but he had to run and catch her.Everything in the room felt as if it was frozen.People were shocked she even did that.Xander immediately screamed for help for her.He couldn't lose her,not again.
