C H A P T E R 54

Athena was getting ready for bed when she heard a knock on her door. "Just a second."The knocking persisted.She stopped what she was doing and went to the door.She saw Anthony all red in the face. "Hey what's wrong." "Nothing.It's not like you would believe me." "What.You can tell me." "Xander." "Really.I'm sorry.I didn't realize I had made him all upset.I can talk to him for you." "No.Please.I can handle my own fights.Besides he's my brother.Like what is he going to do.But anyways I was thinking maybe we can have our hangout now to help me not feel angry." He smirked at her. "No.I'm sorry I think I'm just going to head to bed."He nodded his head while looking at the floor. "No I was an idiot for thinking you would want to hang out after your date." "No you aren't an idiot.It's just I'm tired.Maybe a different day."Again he nodded his head.She closed the door gently in his face.She went back to getting unready.Instead of normal pajamas she put on an oversized shirt and some shorts.She brushed her hair and took off her makeup.She felt bad for Xander but he already knew they were going to be together.She got in her bed and tried to sleep.

All night she was twisting and turning.At one a.m she got up and went down to the kitchen to get a glass of water.Once she opened the fridge to grab a water bottle she heard a noise coming from a random closet in the kitchen.She closed the fridge and held the bottle close to her.She kept on thinking "shit.shit.Is this really how I am going to die." The thing that was in the closet came out.She screamed.He turned on the light and it was Anthony. "What the fuck are you doing." "Getting a snack what do you think I am doing.I could ask the same but I see a water bottle in your hand." "Ok but you shouldn't be sneaking up on people." "Ok.But normally there isn't people in here." "Well I am.I get water when I can't sleep." "Did what I said get to you.I had no intention." "No.I mean.Not entirely." He put his hand on her arm. "Here.Let me make it up to you." "How.But I'm fine I'm going to go back to sleep." "No.Please.I feel terrible." "No it's fine.Really.Thank you though." "No I insist." He grabs her arm and leads her outside. "Wait I don't even have shoes on." He looked at her and smiled "Hey hop on."He held out his hand so she can ride on his back.She looked at him like she wasn't sure.She contiplated on what to do for a moment.She took his hand and got on.

He was happy he was able to get her away for himself but he knew he had to watch himself.He brought het into town.It was quieter and more peaceful.He brought her to icecream shop that is clearly been there for some time. "What is this place.I've visited town before but I have never seen this place." "It's a hidden treasure."He puts her down. "Wait I don't want to be barefoot." He rolled his eyes and he took off his socks and then put his slides back on. She looked at his socks. "Really." "Oh come on.They are clean plus it's either that or you be barefoot." "How about your shoes then." "I mean you could but these are way too big for you." "Ugh.Fine."She put on the socks. "Come on now".He held her hand and brought her inside.Normally an icecream shop is bright and colorful but this one was way muted colored.She looked around in amazement. "My parents used to take me here all the time.Its one of the only memories I really have.And then when I would visit Gantrick I would come here." "Wow.So this place is special to you." "Yeah.I guess you can say that."He looked at her. "You do know you are special though right."She looked at him. "What do mean?" "Well I don't know where to begin.But what I will say is you have this incredible force surrounding you.Its.Well.Magnetic.You're able to change things for the better.Whatever is pulled your way.Its one of things that I believe people are drawn to.I should probably stop talking now.What do you want." She put her hand on his arm. "Anthony I have never been told that before.Thank you for telling me.You shouldn't stop talking,you have a lot to say.I want to hear." He looked at her and smiled.They ordered their icecreams and sat down at a table and they talked.Athena never had these deep conversations before but she loved whatever Anthony had to say.

They stayed talking until three a.m.Once they were heading out Anthony spotted something.He went over to this ole mechanical pony ride.He put in a few quartes and got on. "Are kidding me."Athena said laughing. "What.I used to ride this all the time when I would come here.I didn't even know it was still here." "Ok fine.But we have to get back soon its getting late."
