She doesn't speak, and every cat stays silent in fear that they disturb her. She works harder than ever at hunting and patrols. At sunset she travels to their old meeting place and wails.

She becomes desperate when she moves to the nursery a moon before her kitting. She starts having a piece of bark in the nursery so that she can have the idea of smelling him and sits in the clearing at night to gaze at the moon.

"She doesn't eat. She barely sleeps, and always has nightmares. I don't think it's healthy." Leafheart frets.

"Have Petalfur give her poppyseed, something. I'm sure she'll be better when she has the kits." Featherstar answers.

"A medicine cat can not heal a broken heart." she whispers before leaving.

"Hi, Hollyflower." Fernstripe says for the first time in moons.

"Hi." she whispers numbly.

"Petalfur's brought you some poppy seeds." He tells her. She looks up, tears in her eyes.

"Thanks." she whispers, licking them up from a leaf.

"I'm so sorry, Hollyflower." they tell her. A tear rolls into her fur, then another.

"I miss him so much." She cries softly.

"I know." They say as she lays her head on her paws and closes her eyes.
