Sophie pov
I follow dad into the cafeteria.
"Pancakes fine with you?" He asks.
"Yep." I say.
We both go up to the counter.
"6 pancakes." He says to the man behind the counter.
"Here you go." The man says.
"How much?" Dad asks.
"60." The man says. Dad passes the 60 bucks to the man and takes the 2 plates of pancakes having 3 each. He brings the plates over to a table. We both sit down and start eating. Quietly we both finish it.
"Let's go." He says. I nod. He runs into duke.
"Oh, hey how's the first day going?" Dad asks duke.
"Well, I haven't seen you since this morning and they are treating me like it's my first day of preschool." Duke says.
"Well, they are following my orders then." He says laughing
That causes me to laugh.
"Soph, you can roam around, this is going to be boring soon." Duke said.
"Okay." I say and go away from them. I go to the stairs and rush up to go to the terrace.
When I am halfway up the stairs I realize I forgot my phone in Dad's office. So I start to rush down, but trip, fall, and hit the front of my head on the floor. I touch it and there's some blood on my head.
"Are you okay? I heard a fall." A man asks.
"I am fine." I say. The man walks up to me.
"I am Neil and you are not fine you are bleeding. You need to let me take a look at it."He says.
By his voice, I could tell that he won't stop.
"Okay, fine." I say.
"Okay, alright. I am gonna carry you as I am afraid you have a concussion, and you may fall". Neil says.
"No." I say.
"Yep." Neil says and carries me. He walks up the stairs, opens a door. Then I can see the hospital corridor. He opens the door to an exam room by his foot. He sets me on a table.
"Do you feel dizzy or anything?" He asks putting on his gloves.
"Nope." I say. He brings a penlight.
"This may be bright, but don't close your eyes. Okay?" He asks.
"I won't," I say. He shines the light into my eyes, which was bright.
"No signs of concussion." He says and turns the penlight off. I step off the table.
"Where are you going? I need to clean that blood up. Hop back on." He says. I don't say a word and hop back on the table.
"You won't use a needle right?" I ask.
"Nope." He says.
He brings the cotton over and starts cleaning it up. In two minutes, he is done.
"So where are your parents?" He asks taking his gloves off.
"He's in the cafeteria," I say.
"Does he work here?" He asks.
"Yeah, Dr. Ashton walker." I say.
"So you're Sophie. He talks about you a lot. You're a good kid." He says and it makes me smile.
Just then, the door opens, and dad steps in.
"Did you page me?" Dad asks and Neil quickly stands up.
"Yeah, I did, Just wanted to ask about post-ops," Neil says.
"Yeah, you can do them, just tell me the status before I finish my shift." He says.
Dad didn't look up till now he was looking at a file, then he looks up.
"Sophie, what happened to you?" Dad asks walking up to me. I look over to Neil to explain. He understands my look.
"Dr. Walker Sophie fell down a few stairs. She has no signs of a concussion there was only a little blood which I cleaned up."Neil began walking dad through all the things that happened.
"Alright, Lockwood." Dad says. I thought that would be his last name.
"Are you fine?" He asks me.
"I am fine, dad just a little blood," I say.
"I know that but reduce that clumsiness okay I don't want you getting hurt, it could've been a concussion and you would've needed to stay in the hospital for a night and an IV, for fluids," Dad says. I nod. Neil Goes out probably to check on Dad's post-ops.
"Dad, what's the time?" I ask him.
"It's 6 30." Dad says checking the time on his watch.
"Are you done for the day?" I ask I was tired and wanted to go home.
"Yeah. I am done I dont have anything to do now. I am going to my office to bring a few things. Stay here." Dad says
"Will you bring my phone and book too?" I ask.
"Sure." He says and walks out.
I was alone there. A minute later dad steps in.
"Here you go," Dad says and passes me my book and phone.
"Let's go. Today was a tiring day." He says.
"Okay." I say and hop off the table.
We both go in the lift, I press the ground button and it goes down. We both get out. Neil comes up to us.
"Dr. Walker, I had a look at your post-ops, all are great." He said.
"That's great. Just call me if there are any changes. Alright?" He says.
"I will. Have a great day at home." He says.
"You too." Dad says. We both walk away. We exit the building. Sit in the car and dad begins the drive home.
