Twenty four

Sophie pov

I woke up at 3 am as I wanted to drink water. I saw there was none left in my room so I went downstairs after I came up drinking water I could hear dad panting trying to catch his breath.

I went into his room. He was awake panting.

"Dad." I said and went by his side.

He gestured me that he needs water. I quickly got him one. I helped him drink it. After he was calm.

"Dad what happened?" I ask.

"Nothing Sophie, I had a nightmare it was really bad like I was drowning."  He said.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"I am fine, it was just a dream." He says.

He never had nightmares. That was a never thing this was the first time.

"Are you still feeling sick?" I ask.

"Nah I am feeling fine now." He says.

"Go sleep now." He says.

"Alright, night".I say and get off the bed.

"Night soph". He says and lays down and I see him immediately go to sleep.

He was probably just tired. I go to my room. And lay on the bed. I start to think about the events of this day I got suspended, I punched someone. And while thinking that, I fell asleep.

Ashton pov
I didn't fall asleep. That nightmare was bad really bad like I was drowning I panicked. Suddenly, I couldn't breathe I sat up and drank some more water. I was feeling well now I just decided to give up sleep for the night. I went downstairs, picked my laptop up, and started working. I was typing keys as slowly as I could cause if I did that fast it would make a lot of sounds and Sophie would wake up which I didn't want to happen.  I kept completing it all. Which was a lot. Things didn't happen much today but in previous days. Today was a lot Sophie getting suspended, then a new school on the first day, Neil Thing, Emily getting angry. It was a lot.

Flashback to when Ashton met Emily that morning.

"You are finally here." Emily said as I entered. Neil was standing right there with her. 

"What happened?" I ask.

"Lockwood messed up with all the records of patients which is an administrative thing".She says.

"Don't you have records of it saved somewhere?" I ask knowing that the hospital saved all the records if something like this happened.

"Yeah, I have." She says.

"So use that." I say.

"You know that it is a waste of time." She says

"Ashton and Emily stop fighting." Dr. William says. He was our mentor from when we were interns.

"Emily, you can recover the data with some people I will send them, and Ashton and Lockwood you both come with me." He says.

"Alright." Emily says.

Neil and I  Follow him to his office. 

"Sit down." He says as we both enter his office.

Yeah so Lockwood tell me what happened? He asks

Neil remains quiet. I nudge his hand under the table.

"Sir, I didnt do anything. I wasn't even here when the chaos of it all started." Neil says.

"But your shift started before that." He says.

"It did. I was late today as it was my sister's first day of school." Neil says.
