Sophie pov
I wake up at 6 am to dad shaking my shoulder.

"Happy birthday Sophie." He said.

"Thanks dad", I said as I hugged him.

He was hiding something behind him.

"What is that?" I asked him, stretching my arm up to get it.

He lifted it up. I went up to get it but lost my balance and fell before I could touch the ground; he swooped me into his arms.

He gave it to me and when I opened I was shocked as it was a new phone.

"Thanks dad." I said.

"You are welcome. Now the party is at 4 pm invite your friends if you want to." He said.

"Wait, a party?" I said, shocked.

"Surprise, Now, get ready I'm dropping you off today I have a holiday today." He said.

I decided to see the phone later, and probably when get I home. I kept the box as it was. I then showered, brushed, and got ready. When I got downstairs, he was making breakfast.

"Your favourite mac and cheese." He said, putting it in a bowl and giving it to me.

"Thanks dad. I ate it. It was amazing as always, dad." I said after a while. He cooked great food.

"Thank you". He said, having his usual breakfast of coffee and an apple.

He daily wakes at 5 am as he has to go to work, prepare my breakfast and wake me up, which I say is not a simple task. He got dressed in casual clothes, as he was just dropping me off at school. Then we got into his car and he started driving. When we got to the graveyard's front where mom's body was buried.

"Dad, can we?"I asked as we were early today.

Sure, he said. He then stopped the car, and we got out. We sat in front of mom's grave. My eyes tear up. Dad wipes them and says she doesn't like when you cry.

Okay, I won't. I said. All the memories of when she died came flooding back to me.

FLASHBACK
I was a 4-year-old. I was in mom and dad's room when a large thud sound. I went out and saw blood coming out of my mom's head.

She was on the ground saying to call dad. Then I got her phone and called dad.

 "Hey, Sarah". He said.

"Daddy is me, mommy head blood". I said, and he told me to wait, and that he was coming.

Duke came in 2 mins later. He immediately set me aside and kneeled beside mom. Then he held her hand, then kept his head beside her heart. Then started pressing his hand beside her heart.

In 5 mins, dad arrived, and mom was in an ambulance now. I was with duke. Soon we got to the hospital. We arrived a bit later than dad. He was crying, holding her hand. Duke set me on the bed and started rubbing dad's back while they both cried. I couldn't understand what happened, so I asked dad. Daddy, mommy where? He held me in his arms. His tears didn't stop. Duke comforted him.

A few mins later, he stopped crying as they kept a sheet on mom's body. A day later was her funeral when they were burying mom as dad said, don't worry Sarah, I will always keep her happy. Then I understood what happened as I had seen this when grandpa died. I started crying and said, mommy mommy, don't take her away please daddy. he cradled me in his arms till I stopped crying. Then we got home. He still had dry tears on his face. He tucked me in and I slept. When I woke up, I could hear him crying at his table, keeping his head down. I walked up to him he held me in his arms and got me ready. After that, he didn't go to work for 3 weeks. When I would ask him where mom was, he said there pointing to the sky.

FLASHBACK END
PRESENT
I shook my head as the memories came back to me. He had tears on his face. Dad, I said and sobbed into him.

"Shall we go?" Dad asked, standing up.

"Yeah", I said, holding his hand.

He then drove to school, turning on the radio to lift my mood. He didn't like when I was sad or crying. When the song what makes you beautiful came by, we both started singing aloud. Whenever the word beautiful came, he pointed to me. I was laughing when he dropped me off.

"Have a good day, Sophie." he said.

"Thanks dad, you too". He waved at me, and I waved him back and then he drove the car away. Then I faced my friends.
