New Arrivals in town

"Welcome to Nightvale"

Carlos had his radio turned on at his lab like he usually did. It was always logical to be up to date with the news and, of course, it didn't hurt that his husband was the one narrating it.

"Today we have news of a bus pulling into Nightvale's bus stop today, located in Old Town Nightvale, which would be fine if Nightvale had a bus stop or busses scheduled to be here. In fact, I don't think we've ever had a bus in general. Most everything in Nightvale is within walking distance, like Big Rico's pizza..."

Carlos mumbled the next line in unison with him "... No one does a slice like Big Rico's! No. One."

Carlos thought of the bus. He debated putting the bus incident down in the increasingly large pile of weird things that happen in this town but he figured his best chance of figuring out what happened would be going now. He decided to go, but made sure to take his radio with him. It was a small portable one and easily fit in one of his lab coat pockets.

He reached Old Town Nightvale and stopped at the newly existed Bus stop (Yes fight me that's how I'm gonna say it) and came up to the only bus in it. The bus was half extremely light blue, so light it looked like white and half dark Forrest green. A name was printed on the side 'Speedy Beaver'. It all seemed like a perfectly normal bus, so what was it doing in Nightvale?

He suddenly heard voices coming from the bus. He then remembered that this is a bus of course it has people on it, and was kicking himself for not thinking of that. He went up to the now opening bus gate, and waited to greet the new, most likely permanent (considering how hard it is to get out of Nightvale) citizens.

He was suprised when two teenagers stepped out of the bus and not a single person else.

"Great Uncle Ford?" The girl said, she was wearing a lime green sweater with some kind of inspirational phrase probably seen into it.

"No, Mabel that's not Great Uncle Ford, at least, I don't think so." The boy said to his sister most likely, he was wearing a grey-blue lumberjack hat and a black vest. They both wore backpacks, The girl's pink with glitter and the boy's dark Forrest green, darker than the bus. It looked sturdy and practical.

They looked to be the same age but the boy seemed to be the more mature one.

"Hey, Dipper, I don't think we got off at the right stop." Understatement of the century.

The girl, Mabel, looked at Carlos.

"Hey, I think we missed our stop, can you tell us where we are?"

"Mabel! You don't just go around asking strangers things."

"Well he's been right there and hasn't done anything so I think he's fine Dippy." He shut up at Dippy. Carlos laughed under his breath.

"You're in Nightvale, Arizona. I know that's probably not where you were trying to go but Nightvale has a habit of doing things like that."

"Arizona! That's... That's on the other side of the U.S.!" Dipper apparently forgot all about his 'no talking to strangers' rule. Carlos just shrugged.

"That's why I'm here, I'm here to study your bus and figure out how you got here. I am a Scientist after all." Dipper's eyes lit up.

"Can I help? I've done tons of science with my Great Uncle Ford!"

"Hey what about no talking to strangers'?"

"Shush Mabel." Mabel looked at Carlos' lab coat pocket.

"Is that music?" Carlos realized he still had his radio on. He took it out of his pocket, they must have gone to the weather.

"Mmn, must have gone to the weather."

"What?"

"Nevermind." Carlos blushed, but  not so much the kids could see it.

"Also, Sure Dipper, if you want to help I'm sure I can find you something to help me with."

Carlos didn't actually plan on giving him anything important. He doubted the 'science' that he did with his Great Uncle wasn't anything as complicated as the science he was doing, but still he didn't want to turn him down.

He got out a few instruments and was about to start using them on the bus when the bus, and the bus stop it came with, disapeared. Carlos let out a sigh.

"Well, guess there's not much I can do now."

He was more suprised at the fact the kids weren't freaking out. Instead they were whispering among themselves.

"Oh great, this is going to turn out to be another fun summer vacation."

Carlos didn't have it in him to tell them this would probably be more than a summer vacation. He would let Cecil tell them that, Cecil always had a way with words. Just then the weather faded out and Cecil's voice drifted from the radio.

"We have news that the new bus in town and the new bus stop has disapeared, It appears that our, Perfect, beautiful scientist, with his perfect beautiful hair-" Carlos fumbled quickly with the radio to shut it off, blushing profusely. He didn't really want to, he liked when Cecil talked about his hair, but there were children present, children who did not need to hear that.

Mabel snickered and Dipper tried to shush her.

"Anyway." Carlos gave a little nervous laugh. "I'm Carlos, sorry I never introduced myself properly, and that dork who loves to flatter me, is my Husband, Cecil, he works at the radio station."

Neither of them seemed bothered that he was gay, Mabel looked excited, probably about to go around shouting, 'Carlos has a boyfriend, Carlos has a boyfriend!' In the immature way one does, not singling him out for the boyfriend part, but more about the fact he was in a relationship. Dipper just looked bummed he didn't do any science.

"Alright, well, we probably shouldn't stay here, would you all like to come to the lab with me? I'm not sure where you would go after that, maybe stay at my apartment, I don't want to seem like a creep, I just know it's hard adjusting to this town and the people here aren't always welcoming."

Dipper looked at Mabel, Mabel shrugged and Dipper looked back up at Carlos.

"Sure, why not."
