Everything felt numb when Zayne woke up. He blinked at the ceiling a few times before he started to look around. He saw his sister asleep at the side of his bed and a lot of tubes that were connected to his arm.

Zayne groaned as he tried to push himself up but he was hit with pain somewhere on his chest and his head was throbbing. He slowly let himself back down onto the bed and sighed. "Zayne? You're up!" Astrid called out groggily as he got up from her uncomfortable position.

She looked horrible. Her make up was runny and her eyebags were super dark. "Thank god you're up." She let out a sigh of relief as she move forward and wrapped Zayne in a hug. "Hey sis." Zayne said weakly.

"I'm going to call the doctors okay?" She said as she pulled away and rushed out the door. Zayne took this time to look around, there were iv drips by the bad and his chest was wrapped tightly with bandages.

He lightly felt the area around his wound which was at the top right side of his chest, a distance below his shoulder when Astrid came back into the room with a doctor and some nurses behind her.

The doctor started to introduce himself as the nurses set to work. "Hello Mr Sterling, I'm Dr Steven. The nurses will take your blood pressure and sugar levels and give you something for the pain."

Zayne just nodded as he lay there and let the nurses do their thing. "You have a bullet hole through your chest but luckily none of your ribcages are damaged and we managed to stop your bleeding just in time." The doctor continued.

"But, you fell into a coma from the blood loss which is resulting in the headache you might be feeling right now." Zayne didn't even need to speak as the doctor poured out information for him.

"How long was I out?" Zayne asked, his voice coarse. Astrid grabbed a plastic cup from his bedside table and poured him some water. The nurses helped him sit up and Astrid passed the cup to him.

"About 3 days, but it's nothing to worry about." Zayne nodded at his answer. So it's already been three days. Three days since he was shot at a party. Three days since he saw Adrian, the same Adrian that had a gun pointed at him.

When the doctor and nurses were done, they excused themselves and left Zayne with Astrid. "How're you feeling?" Astrid asked as she took the empty cup from Zayne. He'd drunk every last drop and Astrid poured him another.

"For someone who has a hole through their chest, I think I'm doing great. What about you?" He replied, while only managing a half-chuckle.

"I'm not doing great. Do you know how worried I was when Noah called me in the middle of the night saying that you got shot and blacked-out?" Astrid grumbled as she sat down onto the chair at the side of the bed.

"Sorry." Zayne said and gave a smile. "Talking about Noah, is he coming?" Zayne continued, there were a lot of things he wanted to know.

"Yea, I texted him just now. He should be here soon." She took her phone out and double-checked the text she'd sent. Noah had been the hospital in the morning but had to go back to the station to do some paper work.

He was also present the past few days, together with Astrid who demanded that he explained everything. So right now, Astrid knew everything that was going on.

"I haven't seen you in a few months and I can't believe you went and got yourself shot." Astrid sighed and poured some water for herself.

"I was on a case! It was bound to happen." Zayne argued back, although it really wasn't. Zayne kept glancing at the door, waiting for Noah to appear to explain everything.
