Promise

chapter 30 - Zachery Lorenzo

   That night, after Zayne put Eli to sleep, he came back down into the living room. "He finally went to sleep." Aspen sighed. After running around and playing the whole afternoon, everyone was exhausted.

     Zayne chuckled as he slid down onto the couch. "You didn't even move a lot." Adrian rolled his eyes at Aspen. "So who's Leo?" Astrid ignored the twins and asked.

     "Right. Leo came to the station one day and said that he was Eli's uncle or something and wanted to bring him back." Zayne started to explain.

     "Did you not check his background or something?" Adrian and Aspen stopped bickering and started to listen. "Of course we did. They ran a check and it was clean so he signed some papers and took Eli back."

     "You just let him take Eli back like that?" Astrid asked again. Zayne was a protective person, she didn't think he would trust Leo so easily.

     "Well, yea. I saw him once before that, he saved my life. We were intercepting a deal, the deal you told me about" Zayne said and looked at Adrian before he continued, "but something went wrong and we were trapped."

     "Leo showed up and helped us out. I talked to him after that and he didn't seem like a bad guy, so when he came for Eli at the station I wasn't wary at all." Zayne sighed, Leo must have planned it all from the start.

     "What does he look like?" Adrian asked with a frown on his face. "When I saw him for the first time he had a suit on but without the jacket and black gloves, which were kind of weird." Zayne recalled.

     "What about his face." Adrian pressed. "I guess he was quite good looking. He had brown hair that was kind of like both of yours," Zayne frowned as he looked at them. There was a slight resemblance.      

     "His features were sharp, his eyes were blue, oh and he had a piercing on his right ear. He was about this much taller than me and I think there was a small scar on his jaw." Zayne talked while gesturing.

     When he was done Adrian looked at Aspen who nodded back at him. "Why, is something wrong?" Zayne asked, he had a bad feeling.

     "I'm pretty sure that that's our cousin. His real name is Zachery Lorenzo." Adrian revealed. Zayne opened his mouth to say something but no words came out.

     "So if he was the one that kidnapped Eli, he'd be the one that framed you right?" Astrid voiced out her thoughts. It did make sense, he had all of Eli's things.

     "But what's the point? Why'd he go through all that trouble just to frame me, I didn't do anything to him." Zayne couldn't understand. "You did interfere with his business and he's probably trying to get to me."

     Zachery was the head of the human slave trade operations in the black market but he's wanted Adrian's position for a long time. "What do you want to do then?"

     Adrian grumbled. Zachery was the most troublesome person ever. "I want him gone." He said and Zayne hummed in thought.

     "Charges for slave trade and abuse could put him away for at least 40 years." Zayne brought up. Astrid nodded, "that would clear you from suspicion of kidnapping Eli too." She added.

     "Zayne?" Eli's voice came from the top of the stairs, interrupting their discussion. Everyone turned their attention to him.

     "What're you doing awake?" Zayne asked. Eli stood there rubbing his eyes, "Can I sleep with you please? I don't want to be alone."

     Zayne got up and went over. "Of course you can, let's go." Eli grabbed onto his hand and followed him to his room.

     Zayne lifted Eli up and onto the bed before getting in himself. Then Adrian walked in and started to undress which caught Eli's attention.
