Princewill
I was smiling
Actually, no.
I was grinning like an idiot
I couldn't stop it
I had tried. Several times, actually.
But every time I remembered what Adah had said, that tiny smile would find its way back to my face.
I like you too.
Four ridiculously simply words had somehow managed to turn my entire day.
She liked me.
Adah actually liked me.
I leaned against the seat of the car, staring out the window without really seeing anything. The streets passed by in a blur, but I barely noticed them. My mind was somewhere else entirely— back in the library, with Adah looking at me with those nervous eyes, admitting what I'd been secretly hoping to hear for weeks.
I had finally told her how I felt, and she felt the same way too.
I wanted to laugh
Actually, I think I did
My driver glanced at me through the rear view mirror.
"Everything okay, sir?"
"Perfect."
He gave me a strange look, but I didn't care.
For once I didn't care how I looked or whether I was being ridiculous. I was happy.
Genuinely, ridiculously happy.
By the time we pulled into the driveway, I was practically bouncing in my seat. The moment the car stopped, I pushed the door open— before the driver could come around to get it—and jumped out.
"Sir—"
I didn't hear him.
I barely noticed the security guard opening the gate, or the gardener watering the flowers.
I didn't notice anything.
Because standing a few feet away from me was Kachi.
"Kachi!"
She barely had time to turn around before I ran towards her.
"Sir, what—"
Before she could finish her sentence, I wrapped my arms around her, lifted her clean off the ground and spun her around.
"Princewill!"
Her scream quickly dissolved into laughter.
I laughed too, still holding her.
"Put me down!" She shouted, hitting my shoulder.
"No."
"Princewill!"
I finally set her down, but I was still grinning like an idiot.
She stared at me, then looked towards the driveway. Then back at me.
"What happened to you, today?" She asked
I shrugged, unable to wipe the smile off my face.
"Nothing."
"Nothing?" She raised an eyebrow. "You just picked me up and spun me around like you won a lottery."
"Maybe I did."
She stared at me for another second.
"Did you hit your head?"
I burst out laughing.
