Chap 4; My sad cupcake

Soon lunch break was over and we were settled in class while our  English teacher explained the new topic but my mind wasn't in class, my mind was on Adah, how sad and broken she looked, i looked around and she wasn't in class, I turned to my bestfriend, Mike

"Do you know what happened during lunch break?"

"Dude we were both at the court" he said making doodles at the back of his note clearly not listening to what the teacher was saying. I decided to ask Janet who wasn't far from my seat

What happened to Adah and why is she not in class? I wrote on a piece of paper and threw it to her, she opened it and read, wrote on the same paper and threw it at me

Why don't you ask your stupid ex girlfriend!  was her reply

"Where is Adah?" the teacher asked

Oh so now he noticed. I rolled my eyes

"I'm here sir" came her voice as she walked into the class. Mr Ade studied her for a few minutes and then asked in a fatherly tone

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine sir just had a headache but I'm fine now" she smiled but I could tell it was fake, it was hard to see her eyes cause the light kept reflecting on her glasses but I knew her eyes were red and swollen

"Ok take your seat and try not to stress too much" he said still in the same fatherly tone

This man is partiality, he talk like that to girls but call the guys name you have never seen in the dictionary

"Hey David! Is it your pen that is teaching you?! Will you face this board now before I confiscate you fool" he yelled and faced back his teaching

What did I tell you?! At least he used fool this time

Through out the class I only stared at Adah, she wasn't smiling or whispering in Amaka ears laughing about something like before, she was quiet and spoke to no one, what could have happened?

Next period is electives, I'll talk to her then. I made up my mind

Riinnnggggg

The period was over and I hurriedly packed my books into my back and swung it on my shoulders, I spotted Adah already leaving the class and rushed after her but Stephanie stood in my way

"Hey honey wanna ditch class today? I know a place where we can go" she said batting her eyelashes, placing her arms around my neck

"Stephanie you know we........what happened to your cheek?" I asked when I noticed the red mark in shape of someone's hand on her right cheek

"Oh my God?! It left a mark? That bitch is going to pay" she unwrapped her arms from my neck and ran out of the class with her minoins behind her

Serves her right

Mehn Adah really showed her oo

Omo the girl fit slap Satan commot from you

I wish the slap reset her brain

I heard the whispers and became more confused but one thing I knew was that Adah and Stephanie had a fight. I ran down the hall and saw Adah talking to Nife

Ok what's the problem with this two?!

Believe me I didn't forget the way he flirted with her in the class, that caught me by surprise. Just then I saw him take her hands in his and looking into her eyes she smiled

I should be the reason behind her smiles not him

Are you jealous, my subconscious mind piped in

Of course not, I'm just...well.... concerned

Keep telling yourself that fool

I saw Nife spread his arms as if asking for a hug

Oh no you don't

I quickly rushed towards them and wrapped my arms around her shoulders, pure shock was evident on their faces

"We don't want to be late for literature class now do we? and you know how Miss Mary can be sometimes" I said trying to play it cool

"Oh...erm.....ok, we'll talk later Nife" she said with a smile and I clenched my jaw

"Yeah, bye, you too Princewill" he  waved us and I sent him a fake smile

Why the hell I'm I behaving like this?

"Hey em... I'm really sorry for the way I snapped at you earlier" she nervously said as we walked to class

"No I'm not mad, I understand" I replied

"But what exactly happened?" I asked staring at her

"Oh well you know, the normal fights between Stephanie and I, it's no big deal" she shrugged

"What do mean no big deal?! you were hurt and crying for God's sake" I stopped walking focusing on her now

"Listen it's nothing, let's go to class" she held my wrist and pulled me forward but I pulled her back

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong ok?" I stared at her intentively, she ran a hand through her hair looking frustrated

"Ok fine, I'll tell you when I'm ready" she said

"Promise?" my eyes bored into hers

"I promise" she sighed and we went to class

What's wrong with me? Why do I care so much about her problems? Why did I feel so uneasy seeing her with Nife?

"Hey Princewill!" Adah waved her hand in my face, I was busy with my thoughts I didn't hear when she called

"Huh?"

"Mike has been trying to get your attention" she said pointing at Mike who was a few seats behind us, he flung his hands in the air giving me the what- the- hell-dude look.

I facepalmed myself, I totally forgot about him and sat with Adah
